Although there are a few surprises along the way;that really isn't my main criticism of the book.

The Spider and the Fly is more in the Space opera area than the Military SF area.Without giving anything away the plot contains what you would normally find in this kind of story. Although there are a few surprises along the way;that really isn't my main criticism of the book. My major problem is that the heroes and the villains in the book lacked scope and dimension. They were hardly more than cardboard cutouts just going through the motions of a script. There was so so much more room for character development , but..it just didn't happen. This is not the kind of book if you want weber or Drake but it does try. I can honestly say I never got excited or taken away although the beginning of the book was better than the conclusion. That's basically it and there 's a sequel coming out this summer "Rebellion" More of the same? I sincerely hope the author takes more thought and care to expand and flesh out his characters more.

I'm hoping the saga will be continued! The twists and turns were good and there were times I had a hard time putting the book down when I needed to.

As exciting as a great space opera but much deeper. A little slow in the beginning but the depth and texture of the ending is worth the wait any sequels wont need the background. I think this will become a classic. Not hard sci ti but will be in a class with the most popular sci fi franchises.

This is a pretty fast-paced adventure story with some cool ideas about the future of humanity. However, both the story, the language and the characters leaves something to be desired, even if it is not bad. An entertaining read while stuck at the airport but nowhere near my top 20-list.

This was a fun, quick read. I enjoyed it enough to check out the author's other work - and have been extremely impressed with his fantasy series - The Shattered Messiah Trilogy and The Chronicles of Eve.

The reviews to this point have been pretty much spot on, the events as described. While many found it to be a very fast paced story , I thought the pacing more like an epic Space Opera. Well , as most Space Operas the flow and pace changes and does this one. It fortunately never really lags. Characters are interesting and the action is well written. The premise while novel still has a realistic feel. Definitely worth a read.

Action packed Sci fi story. Interesting use of telepathy concerning the antagonism between humans and several different groups of aliens who wanted to destroy any psionic abilities. The relationship between Jen and Markus kept one wondering how things were going to finally end.

Pretty well done story and it does float together. This is the first time I have read a Stalbaum story. I was happy to find a new author to me that could keep my attention. I like scifi books and they have to be good to keep my eyes on the page.
