Sporting News SUCKS,
This review is from: The Sporting News (Magazine)
First of all I want to say that the Sporting News is an excellent publication and I have no complaints about the magazine. However, their publishers are another matter as they're not living up to the terms of their subscription terms and all who consider subscribing to them should think twice about doing so.I don't know how many other subscribers are running into this, but some time back I obtained a multi-year subscription to the Sporting News that expired in early 2013. At the time I did this it was a bi-weekly publication. Then this past week I received a postcard from them that tells me they are now publishing monthly rather than bi-weekly which doesn't shock me nor upset me. I understand that print publications are becoming a thing of the past and must print less often to stay in business and while I'm not crazy about it I am willing to receive fewer issues for the remaining term of my subscription, except . . . That they tell me my remaining subscription value is only worth three more (monthly) issues when my subscription expiration was a year and a half from now (18 monthly issues, not three). Which means they have disregarded my original subscription commitment (me to them by my payment and them to me by accepting it) and are substituting their own new valuation of my remaining term. In other words they're telling that they're not living up to their commitment. How they expect to develop a satisfied customer base from treating us like this I cannot imagine. I will request a refund and invest my money elsewhere in search of sporting news - with publishers that don't attempt to short-change us. I advise others to consider the ramifications of dealing with this magazine. If they treat their customers in this manner this time, how good is their word?

Sporting News - VERY POOR customer treatment,
This review is from: The Sporting News (Magazine)
I would not recommend subscribing to Sporting News. The magazine announced that it is switching from 28 to 14 issues per year. One would expect that existing subscriptions be transferred on a 1:1 basis -- that is, anyone with a year left on their subscription would receive 14 issues vice 28. SN has chosen to "value" the number of issues remaining on existing subscriptions based on the reduced rate one pays per issue in a long-term subscription (vice actual cover price). However, when translating that into how many issues existing subscribers will receive in the 'new' format and price, they base the value on actual cover price, vice being consistent and valuing it on the same reduced price for a subscription. Bottom line is that existing subscribers will receive only 1 issue in the new 14 issues/year format for every YEAR they have remaining on their subscriptions. I feel strongly that SN is not treating its existing customers fairly.

Hand down the Best Sports Magazine around,
This review is from: The Sporting News (Magazine)
I am a subscriber to all the major sports publications, SI,ESPN, Sporting News.
None of them are as informative or as easy to read as Sporting News. Sure SN won't have any real breaking stories on their covers like SI has every once in a while but its damn good. I love the remaking of the magazine from the horrible version of the last 5 years. Now there is lots of actual athletes writing pieces or answering fans questions. All in all Sporting News is a terrific read and a must have for any sports fan

Fuller coverage of sports than S.I.,

TSN covers more sports than SI and is more informative than ESPN the Mag. ( ESPN is too interested in trying to be hip and sarcastic, catering to the younger crowd). I only wish TSN was a weekly instead of twice a month.

Great New Format,

You need to give the new format and 28 issues a year a look over. It's a huge improvement.

Nice magazine as a web companion. It no longer includes stats and boxscores as in years past. Which makes it a real pain for readers in rural areas with dialup.

Being in a jr-sr high school library, I look for periodicals that are current with articles and ads that influence positive character in the reader.
