3.0 out of 5 stars Needs more work February 26, 2013

I like that it has been put in modern language and it seems to be well done in that regard. However, there is not Table of Contents so you can find the divisions by title or by Scripture. It seems it would have been better to do a little more work on the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reading! July 18, 2013

Charles Spurgeon was a very HUMBLE Individual .He Loved The Lord and the Bible and what it stands for..These people gave up a lot to spread the Good News.( and we could stand to have more of it in this day and age). How many of us would step through torrents of rain, FAST for answers, till we hear from the ALMIGHTY? The Ladies only had about 1 or 2 dresses to wear!! and in that day God's people just wanted to feel His Presence!!.They depended on GOD for Healing.,for Food..and the people RELIED on one another! We are truly a spoiled people today, and we can take note,to be HUMBLE,and PRAY as Sturgeon and Luther, and all the others down through the years have done...."Let NOT your HEART be TROUBLED,Neither let IT be AFRAID!" I ordered all 3 of these books on my Kindle...I am still on the 1st one, but You CANNOT go wrong ,with this kind of READING! Pick up that KINDLE, or Tablet or your other device and (get the great STUFF and SHARE it!!) jkv

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ebook! May 5, 2013
When I think of great men of God of days gone by one of the names that always comes to my mind is Charles Spurgeon. I have always enjoyed his writings and was thrilled when I got the chance to review The Spurgeon Series.

The Spurgeon Series is a compilation of Charles Spurgeon's sermon's from 1855 and 1856. It is available as an ebook which made it really nice, especially since it is over 1500 pages. All the sermons are unabridged and include refrences. They have been updated to modern language which make them much easier to understand.

There is so many sermons packed into this series that it is a little overwhelming. The great thing about it is that you don't have to sit down and read the whole book at one time, instead you can meditate and feast on the knowledge of each sermon, and study at your own pace. I know that this is something that I will glean from for many years to come and it is a great asset to my library! If you are not familiar with Charles Spurgeon I encourage you to read his quotes, his devotions and of course this great series of sermons!

***This ebook was provided to me by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Having Spurgeon on My Tablet April 16, 2013
Okay, I am not much for e-readers. I personally prefer the feel of a hard book in my hands, and would rather turn a page than swipe my finger across the screen of an e-reader. However, when given the opportunity to review the Spurgeon Series (1855-1856) I decided to go for it, simply because I absolutely love Spurgeon's writings. With over 1700 pages, I quickly realized the benefits of having this loaded onto my little tablet, rather than trying to lug around who-knows-how-many volumes!

I had downloaded the book a couple weeks ago, but really got to enjoy it this past weekend, when we took a road trip. Visiting a city about 5 hours away for a few days meant a lot of time in the car, and I spent quite a bit of that time reading the Spurgeon Series. This includes Charles Spurgeon's sermons from 1855-1856, and they have been updated into a more modern language for easier understanding. Personally, I kind of wish it had been left in the original language, as I read many books from the 1700-1800's, and have no trouble with the language differences. However, I know why they do this, for many people who aren't familiar with it. Aside from that though, I have nothing but good things to say about the Spurgeon Series!

As I read through this book (I don't think I'm even 1/3 of the way through yet, but I'm enjoying the journey :) I am amazed at the depth of knowledge Spurgeon had. Coupled with a deep love for the Lord and for people, I can not say enough just how wonderful this book is, and how grateful I am to be able to read these sermons, preached some 150 years ago, on my tablet! We truly have been blessed with our modern technology, and I appreciate people such as Larry and Marion Pierce, who go to the effort of making these easily accessible for everyone. Now you don't have to pay out a lot of money to buy Surgeon's Sermon series in multiple volumes; you can simply download it to your tablet, and start reading, learning and enjoying right away!
