I'm taking an acting class right now and I am practicing a scene from "The Star-Spangled Girl." Neil Simon is a brilliant writer. I love his rhythm, the characters, and the humor laced in his work.

I bought this for my acting class because my University library won't let me check it out. It was for my monologue, but I did enjoy the story. It is crazy hilarious and obnoxious.

Confusing at first but glad I chose this play to do for my monologue for my acting class. Sophie is an interesting character.

Star-Spangled Girl is one of my favorite modern-era plays. The primary reason for this is the delightful monologue given by the Southern character Sophie, which I used both to audition for the theater department at my school, and later as a performance peice. It provides endless entertainment for the reader, and is certainly a worthwhile example of a play that is equally good to read as it is to watch (or help produce).
