Editorial Reviews

Review

"It's Pinocchio meets Candide meets Kubrick doing funny... Twisted but clever.... the action reaches out and squirts you in the eye." --Mark Moyes, Rue-Morgue magazine

"Whistles comes across as one of the strongest and most instantly winning and winsome dark fables I've read since Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, with a similar level of stark and unexpected horror, but a heftier dose of heart and honest character evolution than even that aforementioned classic managed to achieve." --Dave Baxter, Brokenfrontier.com

A great read from beginning to end, Whistles is obviously the brain-child of the talented and possibly insane creator of Homestuck. If you want something unsubtly disturbing that will make you laugh, look no further, regardless of whether you're a fan of Hussie's other works.

The Starlight Calliope is surreal, ersatz genius from a guy whose art I saw on the internet and wanted to support. A bizarre tale of insane clowns, cannibalism, murder, and psychedelic cities, if you don't buy this (New, not used) you're dumb. Where's part 2?

I am a fan of Andrew Hussie because of MS Paint Adventures. I bought this book because I heard about it from somewhere on that site, or something. I like the story, and I like the art, and I like it a lot as a whole. It is GOOD STUFF.

Andrew Hussie has exceeded my expectations once again. If you're a fan of dark humor, this is the book for you. The art style is way different than Homestuck, and it just goes to show you how much artistic range Hussie has. The story definitely holds you captive until you've read the whole thing, and you won't want to be away from it too long.

Also a good book to avoid boredom in French class.

Let's be honest here-- Hussie has an obsession with clowns that cannot be placated by normal means. Consequently, this book is all about a circus. In the future. With aliens.
This edition is not colored, and that really takes away from the detailed artwork. Also, in my copy, there is a page that is misprinted.
The humor itself is really dark, some people might just "not get it."
