Editorial Reviews

Review

"There is SO much in the book that is food for thought, debate and inward digestion- as there was in Sun of God, and I find myself quoting it regularly!"! ─DJ Tristan Cooke

"This is a humorous and at times brutally honest overview on many of the problems and divisions that we presently endure through our political and cultural divide." -Robert Steven Thomas, author of Intelligent Intervention

"Gregory Sams is a prophet of conscience sorely needed at this time to help us swing our compass and set us on the road to sanity once again. Look at the chapter titles - and you'll know the sharpness and aptness of his sword." -Lanny Cotler, film writer and director

"Gregory Sams' The State is Out of Date is a book of immense importance that also happens to be immensely readable. Get it now, read it now. You'll be amazed, impressed, persuaded, infuriated and filled with hope for a future that awaits us if only we are prepared to make the right choices. The State IS out of date. We all know it. Now here's the proof and the route map that gets us out of this mess." -Graham Hancock, author of Fingerprints of the Gods

About the Author

Gregory Sams has been changing the culture from the age of 19, when he co-founded SEED, the UK's first natural and organic restaurant in 1960's London. It led to Ceres Grain store, where customers could buy these foods to cook at home. Within a few years he had created the nation's first natural and organic food enterprises, including Whole Earth Foods. He was founder publisher of Harmony Magazine, to which John Lennon dedicated an eight-frame cartoon, and co-published Seed, the Journal of Organic Living. In 1982 he created and christened the original VegeBurger, initiating the market for vegetarian food. In 1990 he founded Strange Attractions, the world's only shop ever dedicated to new science "chaos theory." His interest in that science planted the seeds of this book in Gregory's mind. More About the Author

The story of Gregory Sams is the remarkable story of a British counter-cultural change agent and health food pioneer from the 1960's. In 1967, with his brother Craig, he founded Seed restaurant, the first natural and organic eatery in the UK, whose regulars included John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Marc Bolan and the core of London's flower-power generation. Ceres Grain Store in the Portobello Road was founded soon thereafter because people wanted to cook this food at home. Then came Harmony Magazine, and Seed, the Journal of Organic Living because people wanted to read about these new 'natural foods' followed by Harmony/Whole Earth foods in 1970, distributing the first organic foods in the UK. In 1982, Gregory made history with another first when he created and christened the VegeBurger. The world's first commercially available vegetarian burger, he was soon selling over 250,000 of them a week and established the market for vegetarian foods. "Vegeburger" entered the language and is now a common item on menus throughout the world.

In the 80's, the ever-exploratory Gregory became fascinated with the new scientific ideas of 'chaos theory'. So inspired was he by its implications that he founded Strange Attractions, the world's first ever shop dedicated to chaos theory. Trading as chaOs worKs, he went on to produce and license fractal images worldwide on everything from posters to jigsaw puzzles to book covers to fashion fabrics. Gregory's fascination with chaos theory however, was not just for the mesmerizing images but for the important social lessons inherent in the discovery of self-organizing systems throughout the world. This led him to write his first book, Uncommon Sense - the State is Out of Date (1998), It was well received and changed many lives.

Sams' lifelong passions: health, culture and consciousness culminated in the writing of Sun of gOd. From 2000 - 2007 Gregory worked on this book, in which, as he puts it, "the biggest elephant-in-the-room that you could ever imagine is unveiled.

This is a sarcastically humorous and at times brutally honest overview on many of the problems and divisions that we presently endure through our political and cultural divide. I can't claim that the "fixes" the author suggests will all work, but he adds some new and fresh perspective to the debate. For those of you who are not especially fond of books on politics, this book is refreshingly easy to follow. How you interpret the result is for each one to individually determine.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from start to finish.

Gregory makes a very valid point about the states role in our lives & how it only serves to hold us back. This book has certainly altered my outlook on things.

Many times during reading this book I found myself exclaiming "Of course!".

Well written & definitely not the rant of some crack-pot anarchist. Highly recommend.

The author of The State Is Out of Date, Gregory Sams, is a prophet of conscience sorely needed at this time to help us swing our compass and set us on the road to sanity once again.

He sees the world clearly, uniquely, lovingly--and yet his pen is sharp and cleaves the BS asunder. I bought this book 15 years ago; I'm glad it has been revised and issued now through Kindle.

Get this book and see the world and the way it's working (or rather, not working) and come away with a new ability to describe what you see and despair of. Sams is refreshingly free of cliches and tired old canards. Look at the chapter titles--and you will know the sharpness and aptness of his sword.

I know a dozen people with Kindles. I'm going to buy each of them a copy.

Finally a presentation by a rational man that not only explains the problem but offers solutions.
