About the Author

Beverley-Ann Scott was born and raised on the island of Trinidad and Tobago. She grew up in Marabella and attended St. Joseph's Convent San Fernando and St. Stephen's College in Princes Town. She later went on to obtain her BSc in Information Systems and Management and worked in the banking and business sector for many years prior to deciding to pursue a career in medicine. For over five years she worked as a part-time and later full-time journalist with Catholic News, a local Catholic weekly newspaper. She is currently finishing medical school at a university in the Philippines. Although this is her first work of fiction, expect to hear more about this budding young author who has made an appealing and refreshing entry into the world of Caribbean fiction with her novel The Stolen Cascadura.

Format: Paperback
Definitely a must read for all Trinbagonians who are thirsting for a more current day representation of island life in West Indian fiction. This novel is truly refreshing and appropriately timed. It would make an excellent literature book for secondary school students doing Advanced Level exams. Finally something local that we can be proud of at both the local and international level.

Format: Paperback
Friends from different backgrounds (rich, humble and dirt poor) but alike in intelligence and attending the same schools, grow apart for different reasons, some socio-economic, some tragic. Relationships grow and die and the upper, middle and lower classes converge in this thought-provoking novel about Caribbean teenage life and its tribulations.
Though not artistically written, the novel has a well woven plot and the characters 100% believable. Although the author tends to be preachy at times and bent on clueing the reader in from early that the wrong thinking people will surely be punished in the end. Four stars for content and delivery.

It's not very often that an author includes young adult characters in their novel with their POV on events in the story. I know the schools mentioned and even the extra lessons classes that they attended. As in the story there are some young people who use lessons as a way to meet and hook up, however those are in the minority as the majority do attend with the main purpose of being better prepared for exams. I hope to see more from Beverly-Ann Scott, she did a good job in her portrayal of T&T.

I could not put the book or kindle down once I began. I told everyone about this book who would listen, children, teachers, friends, family. It was that good for me, mainly because the book caused me to reflect on the human nature and how we choose to live our lives and the consequences of every action or inaction. I just love it. I think it can be used a literature text for children in schools.

The book was just read by our book club, it touched us all in some way. I enjoyed every moment of the book. At first you felt that there were too many characters to keep track of but soon you disliked some, loved others and felt a deep sorrow for others. The main characters Eddy, Brian, Lisa and Jesse who were from different backgrounds of the Trinidad society life collided in different ways. :
