Format: Hardcover
The author (and illustrator) takes a new and unique look at the imagined origin of Oahu's Chinaman's Hat island. Beautifully and whimsically illustrated by the author, the book weaves a wonderful tale of a small boy from China with big dreams of seeing the world. Through his travels to Hawaii he discovers that, although small in stature he is big in heart and in abilities. Written for children this book would be equally loved by children of all ages and adults alike.

I remember reading this book when i was younger when my mother would take my sister and I to the library every weekend when we lived in Key West, Florida. I can't remember how many times i checked the book out and I knew every word of the story. I know when I have kids I cant wait to see their eyes light up like mine did when I picked up this book.

A must read after visiting the island of Oahu and seeing the island off the right had coast. The shape of the island makes you think of a Chinamans hat and this story for children provides the explaination. It ties the cultures of the Asian continent to the Hawaiian islands. I liked it very much.

I have been asked by my Grandson (3 yrs old) to read this several times after I gave it to him. We loved the illustrations as well as the story line. I am certain this will remain one of his favorites for some time to come. Absolutely wonderful in every way.

This is a wonderfully imanginative story about the origins of the Chinaman's Hat island which lies just offshore on the windward side of Oahu. The book is beautifully illustrated by the author. A great story for young and old alike.
