Book Description

January 25, 1993 0534196683 978-0534196684 1
This new textbook for the history of psychology course is by a distinguished researcher who has taught the course for many years. Bolles tells an intriguing story of the history of psychology in a casual, relaxed fashion. He cites philosophers mainly to develop certain themes (atomism, mechanism, empiricism, and associationism) and to help students understand what science is. His story is sometimes dramatic and sad, and sometimes amusing, and he ties it all together with wisdom and humor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dry, repetitive, and torturous December 30, 2013

This book was dreadful to read. It is the most repetitive and utterly boring book I have ever encountered. It clearly skipped the proof-reading process.

This book really helped me study for the GRE Psych. It helped me put faces to names, helped me conceptualize things, and was a real pleasure to read. I did really well on the test (99th percentile) and have no doubt that this book helped tremendously.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with the shape of by test. July 25, 2012
By Jessica
Format:Hardcover
I ordered, The Story of Psychology: A thematic History... I wish they would have said it was highlighted throughout the whole text. I thought acceptable, For a book published in 1993, would be good. I was disappointed that they didn't say the severity of the highlighting. If they would have stated all the high lightening I wouldn't have bought the book. And I found it to be little expensive for the quality as well, I went back and looked at prices after I received mine, other sellers had new ones listed for a dollar less. I do have to say, the text shipped right away and I received it within a few days. I would buy form them again, but I would ask questions before ordering.
