Editorial Reviews

Using the clear text of the New International Version, this rendering of the Bible allows its stories, poems, and teachings to come together in a single, compelling experience. The Story, Teen Edition sweeps you into the unfolding progression of Bible characters and events from Genesis to Revelation. And, like any good story, it is filled with intrigue, drama, conflict, romance, and redemption. This DVD, a companion to The Story, Teen Edition print book, helps teens understand The Story more clearly through experiential learning. Michael Novelli has seen that when teens experience a story, as opposed to it being told or shown to them, they absorb and remember it more thoroughly. This DVD offers youth workers a new way to engage teens in the grand narrative of the Bible.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect too much September 26, 2012
By dcb
I've been leading my youth group through The Story curriculum for about 2 months. They absolutely love the stop motion videos, and enjoy the scripts. However, the teaching outlines aren't very good and are very redundant with little to no change from session to session. I understand that the responsibility for preparing is mine, and I never go with the canned teaching outlines. I just expected a little more. My biggest complaint is the lack of variation in the activities from session to session. Overall, the product is just what it says it is; an overview of the grand naratives in the Bible. The stop motion videos alone are worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars churchwide April 17, 2013

Our church is doing this book for 2013: Sunday services, home Bible studies, youth ministry, children's ministry, all of us on the same story/chapter each week. The Teen version is exactly like the adult, but paperback. The key thing is the product itself: the Bible told in story format, emphasis on plot. Editor comments connect each story to the others to show the Bible as a grand overall story of God and humanity, not just bite-sized like vacation Bible school, but connecting Old and New Testament, past and present, Bible story to individual's life story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great curriculum May 19, 2012

I bought this curriculum for a new youth teacher. It was easy for her to use her first lesson to trigger awesome discussion time with the teens. I'm glad that I picked this one for her. Plus being 31 lessons allows her to stay on the same track with the same style for over two years since she only teaches one week a month. All our teachers have different curriculums and I think the story is so worth it! I've paid the same amount for half the lessons and the teens loved their first lesson.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good guide and program for youth groups September 10, 2013

The Story is a condensed, visual, & chronological overview of the Bible. The animated videos are short and sweet and hold the attention of teens. The printable handouts and scripts on the disk can make great tools for leading Bible study or Sunday School.
