I bought this Concordance because a friend of mine recommended it to me, and it was a great price here on Amazon. I don't particularly like the NIV, but I don't dislike it either, and I have an NIV on hand for comparison anyway. Actually the more I use it to reference to use this Concordance, the more I like it.

The Concordance itself is actually not that hard to use. Other users are saying it's not for beginners, and etc. But, I'm a beginner; I'm not a bible student by any means; I just wanted something to really get the meaning of what the text is saying.

The referencing system goes like this: In there back there are two indexes, a Hebrew and an Greek. The Hebrew numbers are for the Old Testament, the Greek are for the New Testament.

If you look up a word, say, "FEAR", the first entry for FEAR says this:

-FEAR (260)[Afraid, Feared, Fearful, Fearfully, Fearing, Fearlessly, Fears, Fearsome, Fright, Frighten, Frightened, Frightening, God-Fearing]-
-Ge 9:2 The f and dread of you will fall upon you all 4616

The (260) tells you how many times the word FEAR appears in the NIV text.

The words in the brackets tells you related words. If you can't find the verse in FEAR, it might be under Afraid, Fearful, Fearfully, etc etc

Then it give you a list of (260) verses where FEAR is used, and the first one is Genesis 9:2. They abbreviate the word FEAR with 'f.'

The number at the end, 4616, is the index number to look up in the back of the book, to get the specific meaning of the Hebrew word translators used and translated into 'FEAR.

The Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek dictionaries are done very well, compared to the old Strong's Concordance I have.

This is an excellent, exhaustive concordance. My only quibble is that I wish the publisher had used a slightly higher quality paper, as the paper is not opaque enough for excellent readability.

So... why would you need one of these in today's digital world, you ask? I'm an experienced user of Logos, and WordSearch, so it would seem I wouldn't need a book like this, but when using the NIV, even Logos doesn't have a way (without spending a lot of extra money) to get to the Hebrew Root word, which is very important in exegetical study of the Old Testament.

WordSearch, even the totally free version (BibleVerse 4), is great at providing a listing of every instance of a particular word. It is an invaluable tool, but in order to get very far when it comes to the original text, a substantial investment is needed. Same for Logos. This book not only gets you a listing of every listing of every word used in the NIV translation, it also gives you the Hebrew or Greek word that the word is derived from, and it will get you to not only the corresponding Strong's number, but it will also get you the GK number, and the number to the Hebrew Root number, which can then be looked up in Logos' Hebrew tools.

Plus, having a physical book is great for leaving a book mark in for easily returning to a listing. Even in today's digital age, having a book to quickly reference is an asset that I didn't fully realize until I picked this book up for a class I'm taking. It has quickly become an incredible asset for my personal study, and I've dusted off its cousin, the "Strongest Strong's NASB Concordance"... together, they're a tremendous resource in gaining a fuller appreciation for the manuscripts the versions are based on.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone considering picking it up. It is a resource that I would absolutely miss if I didn't have it.

The book served as a great resource guide.
The downside was very thin pages which caused images to bleed through.
I would rather pay extra to have better quality.

Great resource for both interpretation and finding passages you can't quite find on your own. Wish I had purchased this earlier.
