Format: Paperback
A highly detailed publication, covering the lives and works of three of the most influential artists of the early 20th century. V. Margolin's thorough examination of the works of A. Rodchenko, E. Lissitzky and L. Moholy-Nagy consist of not only visual analyses of their works but moreover -as the book's title might also suggest- the social, political and economic difficulties they faced throughout their careers. As the pioneers in multiple fields, such as graphic design, photography and painting, the eponymous trio had suffered the brunt of communism (Rodchenko, Lissitzky) and capitalism (Moholy-Nagy), a series of tribulations that has been elegantly and adequately told by Victor Margolin.
