Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Pat Head Summitt, head coach of women's basketball at the University of Tennessee, led her team to the national championship in 1987. This book by her colleague, physical education professor Lay, covers the subsequent year, and traces the history of women's sports at the school from the days when athletic activity for females was exclusively intramural, to the time when spectators cheered the Lady Vols to national victory. The portrait of Summitt, who herself had a notable career as a player, includes glimpses of the team members, who came close to, but did not recapture the national championships in 1988. Young women interested in sports will find this an inspiring book. Photos not seen by PW.

I am a big fan of Pat Summitt and have all books about or by her. This book gave a thorough and knowledgeable description of UT Lady Vols basketball and life in TN at the time. I found it even more interesting since I also grew up in the area. Definitely enjoyed the book.

My mother is a huge Lady vols fan. She enjoyed the book, and has read most of what there is available on the Lady Vols and Pat Summit.

I haven't had time to read this book yet, but anything about or by Pat Summitt has to be as outstanding as she is! Tricia
