Editorial Reviews

Jo Stafford must be one of the most beloved and prolific American singers of the 1940s and 50s. Originally a member of Tommy Dorsey's Pied Pipers singing group she graduated to solo artist with numerous hits. During World War II she made a series of V-disc recordings which were shipped to servicemen in all theatres of operations which helped her to become 'G. I. Jo', the soldier's 'girl next door'. The live rcordings on this CD were made with Lloyd Shafer And His Orchestra, Paul Weston And His Orchestra, Helen Carroll And The Satisfiers, The Starlighters and Martin Block is the Master Of Ceremonies. There are contributions from Woody Herman, Smiley Burnette, The Phil Moore Four and The Mills Brothers at The Supper Club during a period stretching from December 1945 to January 1949 for The Armed Forces Radio service. A suitable addition to any serious collection.

Received cd in good condition. The sound quality is excellent. Puts me in the radio studio and fills in some of the blanks of her career.
