Book Description

***Surrogate's Secret - My own mother's favorite book!!

Visit Santiago, Chile and live the romance with Sheri O'Connor in
this heart-warming story of a woman who learns to trust!!

Charming characters bring this story to life:

***Sheri is a mother of surrogate twins and no-one
will take them from her. The babies are hers and hers they will stay!!

**Miguel needs to
take those babies back to Chile - to his dying mother so it will give her a
reason to get well. And after all, they were his brother's offspring.

*The Secret - stands
between them and their fight for happiness.

Overview:

Maybe he does take it too far in forcing Sheri to marry him
but Miguel doesn't feel as if he has any choice. He loves his mother whose
injuries were a direct result from when she saved him from being held as a
prisoner in the jungles of Columbia. This snippy surrogate mother will just
have to see things from his perspective. Except - she sure as heck doesn't!!

Praise for: Surrogate's
Secret

"A sweet contemporary
romance that will tug at your heart. Although Mimi Barbour has written several
novels in the romance genre, paranormal, fantasy and romantic suspense. This
contemporary romance is by far my favorite."

"I was swept away from
the moment Miguel appeared on the page. He's the perfect suffering hero who
only wants to do the right thing, but that right thing is causing him one hell
of a headache . . . and her name is Sheri! I absolutely loved the chemistry
between them and the slow burn that simmers just below the surface. It's like
you can't wait for that first kiss... and wow! The pull over those sweet babies
and the family history just adds to the dynamics of a terrific read that I
could not put down. Highly Recommend!"

"This novel grabbed me
from the beginning and didn't let go until the end (actually, I'm still
thinking about it). The characters are so believable that you lose yourself in
their story and feel their emotions. There is also a lovely little twist in the
novel that will make you smile."

Review

Great Read1 - 5 stars!

For her first contemporary romance she hit it out of the park. Carrying a friend's baby, then their death, baby illness, how much more can one woman take, well....arrival of the handsome uncle of course. Then a lot of miscommunication...loving, more miscommunication, heartache, well you get the jist. This book had me crying, laughing, crying, melting and everything in between. Great book. Hope she writes more in this form. You will remember this book long after you finish it. The love of a mother...ahhh... read the book you'll understand what I mean." ~ reviewed by Karn

From the Back Cover

Surrogate mother, Sheri O'Connor, loves her adorable twins. Since the donor parents were killed before their birth, she's gladly taken on the responsibility to raise them herself. When their Chilean Uncle, Miguel Rivera, arrives with no warning, expecting to take them back to his country, she unravels and coldly informs him that isn't going to happen. After all, they were her eggs used in the In Vitro process. Consequently, her claim supersedes anyone else's. Never in a million years does she dream that the South American heartstopper wants her babies so much that he will force her to marry him by threatening to withhold the money she needs for an operation for her tiny son.

Miguel knows women aren't to be trusted. Didn't his devious fiancé give him up for dead and marry someone else while he spent months being held hostage in the jungles of Columbia? If his mother hadn't brought a team to save him and end up getting shot during the rescue, he wouldn't be alive. Therefore, if the only thing that can help his Mamacita from succumbing to her wounds is to adopt his dead brother's surrogate children, then he will do anything to see that happen. Even marry the ditzy blonde whose saving grace, beside her gorgeous body and beautiful face, is her absolute devotion to her babies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely loved it! July 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A sweet contemporary romance that will tug at your heart. Although Mimi Barbour has written several novels in the romance genre, paranormal, fantasy and romantic suspense. This contemporary romance is by far my favorite. Sheri is a surrogate mother for her good friends, but an accident kills them before she gives birth leaving her with twins to raise. It's not until the extremely handsome and wealthy brother of the surrogate father, Miguel, shows up on Sheri's doorstep claiming the right to the twins that shakes up Sheri's world as a single mother. But Sheri won't let him walk away with her babies, and when one of the babies gets sick and needs surgery she is forced to accept Miguel's financial help to pay for the surgery. Miguel is desperate to have the children but he doesn't expect Sheri to be the force standing between him and taking the children back to Chile with him, and the grandmother that so desperately wants them. So he marries her, and whisks her away. And let me tell you there are sparks and chemistry sizzling between them. But it's secrets and misunderstandings on both sides that threatens to tear them apart. All I can say is read it! And you'll find yourself wrapped up in Miguel and Sheri the love sizzling between them, routing for them, unable to put down this book. The Surrogate's Secret I highly recommend and can easily see a sequel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs a little work August 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While the premise for this story was a good one - there were lots of what I felt were not really logical happenings. First of all, I had a difficult time believing that Miguel was able to just talk Sheri into marriage as he did. Granted, she didn't have family or a typical job, but to marry a total stranger and fly off to a new life in another country is not really believable. There were other issues in the book - the way the babies were hardly any extra work, the way Sheri knew about the switching of the sperm by the sperm bank yet Miguel didn't -- too neatly written up. The story was sweet but needs some tweaking.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic even for a romance August 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Romance fiction always has an element of fantasy/unreality included, otherwise there would not be the misunderstandings and making-ups which are mandatory of this genre.

In the case of The Surrogate's Secret, there is one glaring mistake - the clinic would never have NOT told the client of the mix up, and left it to the surrogate to spill the beans somewhere down the track.

The stand-off between the parties goes on for what seems like the better part of the book, the reasons for which are unbelievable. The housekeeper's angst is never explained satisfactorily and the ending is lame.

Unfortunately, not my favourite romance novel. This is not Ms Barbour's finest effort.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Book August 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like almost all romance books and Mimi' s doesn't disappoint. Was very sweet and held my attention. It did bother me a little when the problems with the couple in this story could have been avoided - simply by just communicating with each other. But I guess that's life, communication is key in any relationship. I've read her "Angels with an Attitude" series and those were good as well. I will continue to read her books.
