Book Description

POINT OF ORIGIN is Book 2 in THE SURVIVORS Series! Book 3 coming in 2013.

The winter is upon us. The Survivors are in chaos. The war is coming.

One year ago, Sadie Matthau was living among humans, existing as one of them. But now she wakes each morning in a house in the Survivors City, listening to the invocations and insults of her family members as they cope with their new future. A war. Rogue abandoners turned monsters. Sadie and the icy Winters living in their midst, bringing the outside world in.

The Survivors: Point of Origin is Sadie s quest to save her family. But can she find what she is looking for when she can barely stomach the Winters wintry demeanor and finds herself distracted by Cole Hardwick s warm heart? Will she be able to uncover her family s history even as the elders grip tightens around her throat? In an action packed ride full of magic and misery, terror and triumph, Sadie Matthau seeks the Survivors beginning just in time to face her end.

About the Author

Amanda Havard thinks in stories.  She writes books and songs, tells stories to people over coffee or in elaborate iPad apps, in short films or subtle photographs. Stories are her life. THE SURVIVORS: POINT OF ORIGIN is her second novel, and is an amalgamation of all of her storytelling love combined. Originally from Dallas, Texas, she now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, a place where creativity drips from the sap of the trees, radiates from the attitude of the population, and seeps from the concrete. The inventor of the Immersedition™ interactive book app, Havard is always looking for the next best story-- and the most innovative way to tell it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchanting and Awesome January 10, 2013
By Erica
Format:Kindle Edition
Amanda Havard has delivered a book so intricately woven and so richly diverse in the mythology she uses with Point of Origin. The Survivors Series is paranormal as its finest, and I absolutely loved this one.

Amanda Havard is one heck of a story teller - she manages to draw readers right back into the world of the Survivors within a few pages of Point of Origin. And once she draws you in, she doesn't let you go. The characters in Point of Origin have a trying journey and I felt like I was transported right alongside them in their world. I was on the edge of my seat cheering for the characters and worrying for them when things weren't going exactly how they planned. Point of Origin was a book full of twists and turns I could never see coming. It was such a fun ride.

The concept of The Survivors series is so intriguing, unique, and utterly bewitching. Everything that was established in The Survivors has only been explored more indepthly in Point of Origin, all while new ideas are introduced alongside these. I love Amanda Havard`s use of mythology and history - it is so interesting to see the how the mythology plays out. There are such unique creatures in Amanda Havard`s world that I had never heard of. Point of Origin poses nearly as many questions as it answers, so I cannot wait to discover those answers in the next installment of the series!

I just love the characters of this series. Something about each of them is just so special. I like Sadie - she is not afraid to be herself, no matter what others think. I also really like Mark and Ginny - both of them are just so endearing and I love every scene they are in. Point of Origin really lets characters get to know Everett a lot better as a character - to see all the facets of his personality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Point of Origin June 24, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Thinking I'd get many of the questions I had after finishing The Survivors answered, I picked this book immediately after finishing it and was surprising thrown further into Amanda's incredibly intriguing paranormal world. Amanda doesn't tread lightly with this sequel. She throws in more twists, uncovers more secrets and introduces readers to a few new characters who end up playing some big roles in this series. The romance, the action, and the impending war added uncertainty and a little bit suspense to the series. I liked being able to get a more in-depth look into the role the Salem Witch trials play in this series, and particularly in Sadie's life, as well as getting to understand more of the paranormal lore through Sadie's research.

Sadie's constant curiosity and need for answers leads to some extremely interesting finds. I loved feeling like I was getting what was going on at the same time she was. Without Sadie there'd be a lot big pieces missing from the complex puzzle that's behind the impending war. Despite Sadie's book smarts, this time around I was surprised with how much Sadie irritated me. Don't get me wrong, she's still a good character, but I got frustrated with the way she handles some "situations" in this book. I get that she uncovers a lot, and finds out some surprising secrets, but her running off when things got hard really got on my nerves. I felt she regressed a bit as a character during those scenes. Then there's time I felt like I understood her struggle with trying to fit in w/ her immortal family and that of wanting nothing to do with them and wanting to be in the human world. I got how that effected her and some of the choices she makes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing, Enchanting, Dark September 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Get ready for book two in the Survivors Series! Did you love book one? Expect to be wowed again by Point of Origin by Amanda Havard and her brilliantly creative talent as we are taken on a ride of discovery, truths, lies, misdirections, revelations and, of course, more questions.
As Sadie continues on her quest for knowledge of her people's past, she is still contemplating trying to find a way to end her long life, all in the name of research, of course. Yet she needs to get to the origins of her people in order to save both her old and new families, in spite of how the Survivors treat her. So with impending doom looming on the horizon, time is of the essence and knowledge will be the key to survival.

Carefully weaving each new piece of information into the complex and engrossing plot, Ms. Havard had a death grip on my imagination throughout Point of Origin. How much human history is accurate? From the Salem witch hunts to the unrecorded banishment of the group of "witch" children, later to be known as the Survivors, Sadie finds as many questions as answers. How does the Winter family play into the lives of the Survivors? Who is the Raven? What evil does he hold within his grasp?

Is Sadie missing her "human" world too much? Through all of the trials and tribulations going on, Sadie has two men who hold her heart, but which one is the right for her, the human, Cole or Everett, another supernatural? As with all of the characters, there is much more depth and a greater sense of realism, dimension and personality, making each man a good candidate for Sadie's heart.Sigh...

How Amanda Havard could juggle all the subplots and keep the story moving along in such a smooth manner while dishing out only "need to know" information, is a testament to her writing ability and her amazing sense of imagination and timing, leaving me anxious for book three!

Enjoyed the series so far. I am looking forward to the next book. I get frustrated with Sadie because she is to self-involved. I hope she grows up in the next one.
