The cantankerous woman we can’t help but love, and her love/hate relationship with Harold Twohig.
What follows is a wonderful delightful story, with some great characters that are fun to follow along in this story.

They direct grandmotherly advice to anyone who will listen, as well as a lot of people who don’t want to listen.

The Sweetheart Secret, sweetheart sisters #3, by Shirley Jump
Grade: B

"You leave me, and my Oreos alone, Colt Harper, and we'll get along just fine."

Doctor Cole Harper has spent the last fifteen years trying to make up for running off at nineteen to get married and abandoning his family. After running into his ex-wife, Daisy Barton, a few months earlier Cole finds he still can't stay away from the chemistry they have. Cole also realizes he never divorced Daisy and is shocked when she shows up in Rescue Bay asking for his help. Cole thinks up a great solution to both of thei problems but now he has to find a way to once and for all stay away for his wife.

Daisy Barton only ever felt that she had a home during the magical summer she spent in Rescue Bay when she met Cole. Now trying to fix up her family's inn she needs Cole's help for a loan since they are still married. When Cole suggests she help with his grandfather in exchange for the loan Daisy has no choice but to move in with her husband and grandfather-in-law. Back in close quarters Daisy finds herself unable to stop her feelings for Cole but this time she refuses to get h heartbroken again.

This series just gets better and cuter as it goes on. I wasn't a huge fan of the last book so I was hesitant reading Cole and Daisy's book. I love when characters have a long history and these two have fifteen years of "marriage" under their belts. There are so many emotions that go on that keep this book going and make it so hard to put down.

Daisy suffers from abandonment from both her mother and from Cole. It was heartbreaking to see how hurt she was and how Cole just seemed to dig himself a deeper and deeper hole with her.

4.25 Stars!

I adore this series, the humor, romance and characters bring this small town community to life. I love how the straight lace doctor has his past wild side revealed, very humorously.

Colt Harper is Rescue Bay’s general practitioner, he very proper without a dent in his reputation, that is until Daisy Barton comes bursting into his office while he is with Greta, the town meddler. Daisy proceeds to inform him that he is not getting his divorce yet since she is not ready to dissolve the marriage. Greta is speechless, which is unheard of.

Colt does not need any new problems in his life, he lives with his grandfather Earl who has some health issues, but is too stubborn and angry to take any help. But when Daisy reappears in his life wanting something from him, he believes he can capitalize on this and asks Daisy to help.

Daisy Barton spent one summer in Rescue Bay helping her aunt run the Hideaway Inn, she felt like she was part of a family for the first time with her cousin Emma by her side. She has come back to town on her aunt’s request to reopen the Inn, she just needs help with a loan, and it is something Colt can help her with, since they are still married. She has been flighty most of her life, not settling down, and when they met that summer she was a breath of fresh air to Colt, they took off on a motorcycle and got married, it only lasted six weeks before he was called home because of his brother, he straighten up his act and never looked back, until now.

This third book in the series is so enjoyable, there are parts that I would laugh out loud and parts that brought tears and sadness.

Author, Shirley Jump takes readers back the quaint Gulf Coast town of Rescue Bay, Florida in her third book in The Sweetheart Sisters series, The Sweetheart Secret. This book features a story about a divorce gone wrong, for all the right reasons. The enchanting beach side setting, the second chance romance and a furry friend, all add up to make this a great contemporary romance read. Readers looking for small town charm and compelling characters will love this addition to the series.

What I liked:

Shirley Jump has created a small town in Florida that will draw the reader in. Rescue Bay is the kind of place that readers will want to visit often. The beach is perfect, the people are diverse and interesting and romance always seems to be right around the corner. I loved the small town charm of this novel. I wanted to stay at Daisy's bed and breakfast. I wanted to walk along the beach and feel the sand between my toes. I even wanted to visit those pesky matchmaking ladies that make this series so special. I think Jump has a real knack for small town romance and The Sweetheart Secret is a great example of that.

Daisy the heroine was such a free spirit. She had a wildness about her that felt like catching a ray of sunshine. I really liked her. She had a very unconventional childhood since her mother never stayed in one place long and now she wants nothing more than to settle down. But the past has a way of getting in the way sometimes. I loved the fact that Jump used a botched divorce to get her characters back together, what a great plot device! Colt had to grow on me. He was a bit too straight laced and too buttoned up to make me like him in the beginning. He should have just told Daisy what was going on with him.
