Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Then those mice set to work to do all the mischief they could-especially Tom Thumb! He took Jane's clothes out of the chest of drawers in her bedroom, and he threw them out of the top floor window. The classic tale of naughty Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca has delighted children for more than 85 years--as only a Beatrix Potter story can. Now, with all the original text in a fully illustrated Worthington Press edition, Tom Thumb springs to life again for a whole new generation of readers. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

About the Author

Written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter (1866-1943). Her passion for the natural world lay behind the creation of her famous little books. I had this book as a child and thought I would never again set eyes on these wonderful illustrations by Beatrix Potter. I didn't even know the title of the book, only remember an untidy "lady mouse" character in the story named Hunka Munka. My husband suprised me with this book as an adult and seeing those beautiful illustrations swept me directly back to my childhood. I realised that I had never read the story, I had memorized the illustrations at an age before I could read.
This is a fabulous little book and the illustrations are so magical that they may stay embedded in a child's memory until adulthood. That's what happened for me and to this day, I treasure this book.

When I was a girl, my mother read this book to me over and again. I remember begging her to read it to me, and when I was old enough reading it myself. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, including the "Two bad mice", and as in all Beatrix Potter books it is well written and a lesson is well learned. I am looking forward to reading this book to my own children (which is why I am on Amazon.com looking for it).

This is quite a funny tale about two frustrated thieving mice. In another one of Beatrix Potter's classics, animals are used to tell a charming tale, and instill a lesson at the same time.

When Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca attempt to steal food, they are justly not rewarded with their desired prize. In the attempt they create much mischief and make a big mess. They end up paying the victims of the mess back in the end, indicating their sorrow over their troublesome deeds.

A cute tale, that young animal lovers will enjoy.

You can't go wrong with Beatrix Potter, and this wonderful little book certainly hit the mark with my 6 year-old granddaughter. The small size of the book itself was perfect for her little hands. And the story with its precious illustrations is charming. I would certainly recommend this book for children of all ages.

This is a wonderful story and almost all 5 year olds love it. The problem with the downloaded edition is that the program has all sorts of glitches where the pictures are not synced with the text. Sometimes you just can't turn the pages.

In SHORT DON'T BUY THE DNWLOADED VERSION_ IT DOESN"T WORK! By the little books themselves which are a delight.

Hard to admit this but I had never read any Beatrix Potter books when I was very young . Nor did I read them to my children. Loved the imagination and the illustrations. Some things do get better with age. I will have to go to the library and read them to the young children there.
