Book Description

September 7, 2004 0060783389 978-0060783389

Paul Thompson's The Terror Timeline offers a complete and thorough history of the many roads that converged on 9/11, including the development of Islamic fundamentalism, the activities of bin Laden and al-Qaeda, and the failures of U.S. investigations and counterterrorism efforts. It traces the actions (and inactions) of every important figure in the war on terror, both before and after 9/11, bringing them together in a volume that offers a comprehensive and provocative look at this complex subject. Packed with little-known facts and disturbing questions, The Terror Timeline is the first complete reference guide to the events of 9/11 and the war on terror -- the definitive primer on the most momentous issue of our times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read it and make up your own mind - then get mad. September 9, 2004
Format:Paperback
This book is a number of things. First, it is an exhaustive work of scholarly research with enough footnotes to satisfy and then some. To get a feel for what I am talking about one may view his work in an online version at www.cooperativeresearch.org. The shear academic quality is enough reason to buy the book.

Second, the website mentioned is a relatively new phenomena in that it is an "open source" research site. Mr. Thompson's work has been posted for comment and criticism for several months now and has been honed to a fine edge.

And third, this book is the scariest piece of work you will ever read. I'm not kidding you. This is scarey stuff. We've been treated like a bunch of sheep being led to the slaughter. There was an old sci-fi film where the aliens came down and presented humanity with a book "The Serving of Humans" or something similar. As the protagonists are boarding the ship to go visit the alien homeworld, a translator bursts in and yells out "It's a cookbook!"

That's the feeling you come away with here. You wont put it down but don't expect to enjoy it. But for goodness sake, read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Indispensable 9/11 Resource October 16, 2004
Format:Paperback
Thompson's 9/11 timeline has long been the indispensable resource for those doing serious research into 9/11. But it has also served as an excellent introduction into problems with the official story. It does this simply by showing discrepancies between this story and hundreds of stories in the mainstream press (to which Thompson restricts himself). My own work on the subject began, for example, by studying the material provided by Thompson, and this material has remained my primary resource.

It is great that this magnificent labor of love--love for the truth--is now available in book form, so that it is far more widely accessible. The Terror Timeline, furthermore, is not simply the material that was previously available on the Internet. Rather, Thompson made many last-minute additions, responding in particular to reports by the 9/11 Commission.

One can never know, of course, what the effect of a book will be. But my guess is that if people begin reading The 9/11 Commission Report in conjunction with Thompson's book, the Report will start getting fewer 5-star and far more 1-star reviews.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 9/11 Commission should be ashamed. October 14, 2004
Format:Paperback
After comparing the facts revealed in Paul Thompson's Terror Timeline to those released in the 9/11 Commission's Final Report, I was forced to draw the conclusion that the Commission is guilty of issuing an incomplete and misleading account of the events leading up to, the causes of, and the actions during 9/11. Whether it be the dozens of specific warnings or the obstructions into FBI investigations; the ISI's complicity or the ignored money trail; the 9/11 war games or the unprecedented failure to defend America's skies; they are just a few of the dozen or so subjects that the 9/11 Commission consciously ignored; and they are critical, not just for the public's, but for history's understanding of the attacks. As long as we continue to ignore the problems that caused 9/11, we will be unable to correct them. I urge anybody and everybody -- especially my fellow Americans -- to read this book and spread the information it provides.

I don't even want to know the head-ache Thompson had trying to compile this book. Great documentation. Recommended for anyone wanting a closer look at the times around 9/11.
