The song is so haunting and beautiful!

I'd say it was one of my favorite songs of theirs but they have so many good songs, they're pretty much all my favorite.

I love the new song and so can't wait for the new album to come out.

I've been reading magazines' reviews that use "smoky" to describe this new single, but somehow, I don't think that's quite right. Try fiery. Riding on the heels of a hiatus of which almost everything (an affair, religious differences, etc) has been suspected and next to nothing has actually been revealed, The One That Got Away brings together these two incredible artists once more, if only in the studio. There's still no word on whether or not they'll return to touring (I'm still savoring the privilege of being in the very front of the crowd to see them at ACL Fest last year), but make no doubt, the tension and the passion wound so deeply through their past collaborations remains strong, if not amplified in a track that, like Barton Hollow back in 2011, is loud, full, and rocking while the vast majority of their work to date has still tended to hold it's beauty sparse and haunting.

It's incendiary, it's unsettling, and flawlessly performed by Joy and John, with lyrics that'll really cut those of us (most people, I think?) who have fallen too hard for the wrong person before. It's got me looking forward to the release of their upcoming self-titled album, I fully recommend it.

I've been a big fan of the Civil Wars for quite some time, and this song definitely didn't disappoint. It was up-tempo, just like "Barton Hollow," but it packed more of an emotional punch. This duo works so well together, and I always look forward to their new material.

This song is haunting, beautiful, emotive and heart-wrenching. I love it. Their voices are entrancing and take you back to a place you've certainly been before - regret for choosing to be with someone so toxic, they ruin you, or you've ruined them.

Heard this song due to Ravenswood on ABCFamily. After I heard it I immediately purchased. The song is filled with tons of emotion and the lead singer sounds amazing.

I love this song so much. I can't count how many times I've played this... Over and over and over. I'd say it was one of my favorite songs of theirs but they have so many good songs, they're pretty much all my favorite.

I loved this song from the first time I heard it. When I visited their page, I was sad to see they are no longer making music together. Its a shame, because this song is great!

This is an amazing song. I don't even like country music, although this isn't your usual country. I'd call it more alt country/folk. The song is so haunting and beautiful! It inspired me to download a lot of their other music, which is also great. I can see why they've won so many music awards.
