Format: Kindle Edition
"The Therapist's Treasure Chest" is a very helpful book as it gives psychologists ideas for how to deal with a wide variety of issues that are brought to light in therapy sessions. I feel the ideas in this book will help therapists make a real difference in their client's lives. There are some very creative solutions to common conundrums. Also the questions to ask lead to many solutions.

I liked that this book gave a list of materials you should have in your office. This book also explains why using metaphors guides clients into new thinking patterns. My favorite part of this book was the section on dreams.

The only thing I'd question in this book is the method used to encourage children to stop lying. It might work, I've never personally tried it. The rest seems like good advice.

Some of the disorders or behavioral problems include:

Aggressive Behavior
Anxiety Disorders
ADHD
Autistic Behavior
Biting
Chronic Physical Conditions
Compulsions and Tics
Psychogenic Breathing Problems
Depression
Eating Disorders
Enuresis
Grief and Mourning
Repetitive Behaviors
Headaches
Lack of Motivation
Media Overconsumption
Internet Addiction
Nightmares
Obesity
PTSD
Picky Eating
Reluctance to Go to School
Self-Esteem Problems
Separation Anxiety
Sibling Rivalry
Sleep Disorders
Social Anxiety
Stomachaches
Substance Abuse
Suicidality

Each section has interventions to address the problem.

Overall a very useful book for therapists that I can highly recommend. Parents might also find it useful.
