More About the Author

I live in New York City, where things are always interesting, with my artist husband and musician son. I write The Time Mistress Series: romantic time-travel novels spiced with adventure. Titles include The Time Baroness, set in Jane Austen's England; The Time Heiress, staged in pre-Civil War New York City; and The Time Contessa, a journey to Renaissance Italy. I love to pose the question: If you could time-travel to any time and place in history, where would you go? Friend me on FB: Georgina Young-Ellis, or "like" The Time Baroness page and let me know!

Brace yourself for another trip back in time. I was stunned by my journey into Jane Austen's England in Young-Ellis amazing novel, The Time Baroness. On this second adventure Dr. Cassandra Reilly agrees to return through the portal to the days preceding the Civil War. The Underground Railroad was a time of heroes and human traffickers. Young-Ellis sets her readers in the middle of the action and does not let up. The sights, sounds, and even the emotions of the time surround and engulf us. This is a book you will not easily forget. The Time Heiress is a way of looking back at how far we've come and how we traveled a portion of that dangerous journey. Highly Recommended.

I want this and her first book to be put onto film! I want more adventures of Cassandra's time travel. Another book is in the works and I for one am looking forward to being swept away into another time and place. Georgina Young-Ellis's book The Time Heiress is a wonderful undertaking. It stands alone from her first book The Time Baroness, but is actually a series. I am thankful for that; as mentioned earlier I want more. Character and plot development is established with precision. Vivid description of even the smallest detail such as the flowers on a dress filled my mind with images of the Antebellum era. Wonderful endangerment and romance intertwine into Cassandra's visit into New York City of another time. Detailed research is obvious in descriptions of the city. Usually I can calculate the ending of a book, but I was surprised at the conclusion. I highly recommend this book.

How is it possible to be able to read a 'modern' book and yet be thrown into my favourite part of history, Jane Austen? Well this author has done it. I could not put it down and eagerly await other books in the same vein. In one way I knew what the ending would have to be, but in another way I wanted it to be different. I was caught up with the characters, and it is a really great read when you just want to 'get away from modern life' and lose yourself in a more gentle period. Highly recommend it.

It set in the year 2122and time machines have been invented. A rich pop star wants to go back to the year1853 to meet her ancestors and winds up helping runaway slaves escape through the underground railroad. For fiction it had lots of historical facts.I truly enjoyed this book and the ending was totally unexpected. It was a love story with lots of drama. Absolutely recommend this book.

I've lived in New York since 1999, and my books are set in New York also, so I can't help having a special feeling about a book set in New York history. The BBC America series Copper, which covers the gritty side of New York around the Civil War era, is a must-watch in my household. I loved Gangs of New York (the book) as well. Thus my great pleasure that Georgina Young-Ellis has, in the same vein, and so vigorously, taken on pre-Civil War New York. This time, time-traveller Cassandra Reilly has someone to protect -- a 22nd-century celebrity artist named Evie who is paying richly for the privilege of visiting her ancestors. Evie is passionate and very very young at heart -- I wrote to Georgina in mid-read and said "She's such a loose cannon" -- and she can't help falling in love with another young artist, escaped slave Caleb Stone. Of course, there is some romance for Cassandra as well.

As always, Georgina excels at the inclusion of period detail, including geography, clothing, food, and stores (amusingly, Tiffany's jewelry store was then called Tiffany, Young, and Ellis). Music and literature make prominent appearances, as does author Herman Melville. There is not only emotional, but physical danger. There is a depiction of the difficulties of living with racial equality in a society that does not allow it. There is sex, and it is not sleazy and without consequences, as sometimes occurs in low-grade romantic books. This sex is meaningful: it leads to love and loss. There are characters tied to the previous novel, The Time Baroness. Also, someone I didn't like in that book justifies my negative opinion.

As previously, I really like the optimistic depictions of the 22nd century -- this is always my favorite element of Georgina's books, and I could read with great pleasure Cassandra's adventures in her own time.

I definitely recommend this book. On to the next one.

This is the second e-book I have ever downloaded. The first was The Time Baroness. I think it is fitting that I read about a woman from the future on my little smartyphone rather than turning paper pages.

I think the best part of The Time Heiress, for me, is that it takes place in my hometown. NYC. Even though Cassandra travels back over 250 years - she ends up on blocks and streets that I know and recognize. Georgina has made them vibrant and alive. Her characters are also looming large as real individuals. I stayed up late to finish the book last night, and I won't give the ending away, but... I'm looking forward to the next installment...

After reading the Time Baroness I couldn't wait to read the next book and I wasn't disappointed. There again was the delightful descriptive text that made me feel as if I was really in New York in 1853. I could visualize the dresses and nearly taste the food :)
Looking forward to the next installment.
