Dr Finley swims against the tide of popular Christian evangelicalism by asserting (1) the Jews of today are not descendants of those in Palestine a the time of the Roman holocaust under Nero/Vespasian/Titus 66-73 A.D.; (2) that the times of tribulation described in the Book of Revelation were just that, Roman extermination of Palestinian Jewry and worship; and not some event in our own future when Christ-Victor returns; and (3) the creation of Israel as a 20th century nation-state is not any kind of fulfillment of God's covenant promises of the Old Testament which already carried out before the time of Jesus. Downer. Although his thesis points are intriguing and deserve reflection, he weakens his argument by drawing exclusively upon the English translation of the King James Bible -- a departure from more accurate and honest exegesis based on today's superior Greek texts and English translations. Food for thought; not for devotion.

The point of view offered is one I have never heard before. I question some of the thinking, but it does make one think!

I can't recommend this book enough, it's massively eye opening. But I have to warn you, read this with an open heart, or it's going to hurt you. He shows you what the Bible actually says, not what men have been saying it says. This is a very good thing, but sadly many of us have been taught falsehoods about the end times and Biblical prophecy by well meaning men and women who have continued preaching misunderstanding and myths they they themselves were taught by people they respected. It's a simple matter of human nature, we tend not to question that which is taught us by people we respect, even if they are wrong.

Robert Finley dispels many of these end times myths about the rapture, anti-christ, tribulation, and more by simply showing you what the Bible actually says on the matters, and then going to history and showing you when these things were fulfilled, an which ones appear to still be waiting fulfillment.

Again, I can't recommend this book enough, but don't get upset at those that taught you wrong, as he points out, unless God opens a persons eyes, they cannot see the truth. We are commanded to speak the truth in love, and Robert Finley does that superbly here, never attempting to shame or raise quarrels with those still teaching from misunderstandings.

Let God use this book to open your eyes to the truth, and not to get angry at those who need their eyes opened.

Great book to challenge old ways of thinking which are often simply just accepted. The only negative for me was his derogatory remarks about others who differ in opinion.

I found this book a little hard to read, pat of it was Mr. Finley's style and part was the subject matter. I was thought provoking and allowed me to consider his views as they aligned with my understanding of the subject matter. This book is more like a text book than an easy read.

From his experience the author does bring some credibility to the topic based on experience, education and his study and it is very clear that he has a strong views as it relates to teachings on last day prophecy. While I'm still contemplating some of his views, it did cause me to think and challenge some of my own perceptions. Needless to say I did not sit down and read this book in one night, but read it over a period of several weeks.
