Captain Smith, who would later die as commander of Titanic, was Olympic's captain when a collision occurred with the warship Hawke. The ships were damaged and return to Southampton. She had to return to the Harland & Wolff Shipyard in Belfast, causing a delay in Titanic's construction. The British Royal Navy investigated the accident and found the Olympic responsible. According to the final report, Olympic's immense displacment created a suction that pulled the warship into the liner's side.

Was Smith cursed by the Gods of the Seven Seas?
