Book Description

Based on the life and legacy of Moses, Hans presents ten scriptural principles that can revolutionize your business, your ministry, even your life.

The life of Moses provides a master study on what it means to be an effective leader. Consider his pedigree: Answered the call to do something beyond his means; stood his ground before kings; led millions of people on a journey across rivers and through deserts. Moses did this all with a dogged persistence that would not give up. You will discover a dynamic, effective tool for developing leadership skills, all built on the solid foundation of God’s word.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I am excited about my latest leadership book, "The Top Ten Leadership Commandments."(David C. Cook, Release date 3/1/2012) "I think Moses had the hardest leadership job in the history of the Bible. I have been studying his life for eight years...and his handling of discouragement gave me the will to go on through the dark days of my own leadership challenges as CEO."

5.0 out of 5 stars Leadership from the Trenches March 26, 2012
Format:Paperback
I get weary from reading books that are written from the ivory towers, filled with ideals I can't possibly match, leaving me deflated and ready to read-no-more. This book is just the opposite. Its written from many years in the trenches, sprinkled with admissions of weakness and failure, but at the same time, makes me believe I can replicate a good share of the principles conveyed! Thanks to Hans Finzel for being transparent and so very helpful.

Hans Finzel is a leader who has led well for a long time and other leaders will benefit by listening to this voice of experience. All of his books on leadership are helpful but what stands out in this one is personal part of leadership he has faced, including the dark days when leaders want to quit. This isn't a book just about the tactics of leadership but also the heart of a leader. If you want to be a more balanced leader, this book has much to offer. If you are a leader who is stuck at the moment, the first chapter is worth the price of the book all by itself. I highly recommend this book to leaders of every kind.

Hans Finzel in his new book, "The Top Ten Leadership Commandments" Book Two in the Top Ten series published by David C. Cook provides us with an essential guide to effective leadership.

From the back cover: And you thought your job was tough.
The life of Moses offers a master study in leadership. Called to do the impossible, Moses became an ambassador to kings and a leader of millions, while making a profound mark on history. His life was defined by purpose, service and vision. Simply put, it was a life that made a difference.
In this dynamic follow-up to "The Top Ten Mistakes Leaders Make", Dr. Hans Finzel presents the next chapter in his innovative series on leadership. "The Top Ten Leadership Commandments" explores the trials and triumphs of one of history's greatest leaders. Based on sound Biblical truths and extensive research, this essential guide to effective leadership shares ten foundational principles that can revolutionize your career, impact your business and change your life.
You are in a position of leadership or you will be in a position of leadership and you feel like a fish out of water. Fear not so did Moses. Remember he tried to talk God out of giving him the job before he even got started. It was an impossible job and Moses made mistakes but he fixed them and moved on. The important thing to realize is that he led, boy did he ever, an entire nation from slavery to the brink of The Promised Land. Now this is someone to emulate.

"The Top Ten Leadership Commandments" is a tool book. Dr. Finzel gives ten leadership commandments taken from a study of the life of Moses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Principles to propel you to excellence February 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hans Finzel knows what leadership feels like at the top and throughout his lifetime he leaves a legacy with which others can gleam from. As President and CEO of WorldVenture he soon will hand off the baton to other abled individuals with the resolve of leaving in good standing and ensuring the organization will continue with excellence.

Author Finzel has compiled another of his seven books and this one with the heart to encourage leaders and inform them of paramount principles necessary for successful leadership and to offer encouragement to those ready to throw in the towel. I recommend this book for Pastors, Ministers, and anyone serving in a leadership role.

In his devotion to a lifetime of studying the practice of leadership and the lives of great leaders, he has used Moses as a fine example in helping us finish strong in our journey. The humanity and yieldedness to God will be displayed and his radiant glow after being in the presence of God will teach us the necessity of intimate prayer time and how Christ can radiate from our demeanor when we enter into His presence.

You will learn the importance of casting a vision, the selfless acts of caring more about the organization than one's own enrichment, and why micromanaging can be damaging to an organization. As you learn the top ten leadership essentials there will be remedies for barriers and discouragement you may be facing. here are some further topics that will be shared:
-main reasons why pastors leave the ministry
-deadly motives for leadership
- barriers to grooming your successor
-top traits of young people coming into ministries and churches
-indications it's time to leave an organization

There is much within each of the principles given but in essence it's a comprehensive look at the present way you are doing things and giving you insight as to the changes you may want to consider.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can Moses Lead Us to the Leadership Promised Land? March 1, 2012
Format:Paperback
Leadership Promised Land--a place so beautiful and peaceful. A place where everybody agrees with what the leader wants, everybody does their tasks to perfection without any goading or reminders, a place where everything works out just as you have it picture in your mind. (Insert scratchy record noise here) Okay, now back to reality!

Whether you are a leader of 4 people or 4000 you are going to face issues with leadership. No two people think the same way; throw in different personality types and chaos will ensue without some form of leadership. Some of us are born leaders and some of us have been placed in leadership positions we didn't expect and need help in understanding how leadership works and the problems we face are normal and can be overcome.

With chapter titles such as; Thou Shalt Not Serve Thine Own Ego, Thou Shalt Have A Life, and Thou Shalt Lead To Leave, Hans Finzel takes us on a trip through Moses stormy leadership of the Israelites. Mixed in are the author's own considerable experiences in leadership. We are reminded of Moses' reluctance to take the position of leading the Israelites from Egypt, the times he wanted to quit, the times he had to learn to rely on a team to help him lead, and the times he was betrayed by those he trusted. With Mr. Finzel paralleling his own experiences with those of Moses, we see that because human nature really has not changed very much in the past several thousand years, the leadership lessons we can learn from Moses are very applicable today.

I received this book free of charge from David C. Cook Publishers through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
