. . . . and decide for yourself whether this author's work is worth reading. He was the first to bring the phenomenon of clergy abuse into the spotlight with his 1993 book "Clergy Killers." I have not yet read "The Toxic Congregation," but I have reviewed his on-line work, and I've witnessed strongly motivated attempts to silence anyone who speaks or writes about clergy abuse, so I am sceptical about the other (2007) review here at Amazon. Format: Paperback
The author attempts to use contemporary physics and medical ideas to communicate deep, new truths. The ideas, however, are shallow and wholly unnecessary to-be-printed. The physics/medical metaphors are 100% worthless and either distract from the idea or prove, ironically, the authors ignorance.
- His assessment of post-modernity is just silly.
- His 4 types of churches (toxic, dysfunctional, normal, paradigmatic) actually collapses into 2, maybe 3, types of churches.
- He references his other writings with blatant "go buy/read them" verbiage. Why?!? If they are as lame as this one . . .

Don't even bother reading it, much less buying it. Not even worth the effort of getting it from the library.
