Jan Hammer's Miami Vice period was just amazing. The music fit the show and fits the general ambience of Florida. I don't know how such a thing could be captured in music, but this guy managed to pull it off. Similarly with some YouTube videos by a Polish guy named Peter Guja - Jan Hammeresque Miami Vice tributes with the same flavor to them.The song The Trial and the Search, well, specifically The Trial part (the first half of the song) capture the ambience of Florida so well that it reminds me of watching the Gulf of Mexico sunset sitting on St. Pete Beach and watching the light from the lighthouse on Egmont Key. I guess Jan Hammer's stuff picks up the feel of being in Florida the way some of John Denver's stuff picks up the feel of being in the Colorado mountains. |
