From Library Journal
The story of Charles I's trial and execution has been told many times before, but in this work the relevant historical documents (newspapers, letters, parliamentry papers) have been gathered together to present those dramatic events in narrative form. Beginning with December 1, 1648, this collection provides virtually a day-by-day account of the King's trial, execution, and funeral. The documents are organized and presented in a clear fashion with the addition of modernized spelling and punctuation, since the book is not intended to be a critical edition. It complements C. V. Wedgwood's classic A Coffin for King Charles: The Trial and Execution of Charles I ( LJ 6/15/64).- Ronald L. Fritze, Lamar Univ., Beaumont, Tex.
