"Excellent thriller May 15, 2014

From the Author

When I started writing The Trojan Project, I wanted to writer a thriller which would stand out. Something that would grab the reader's attention from the very start. And I think I did, though I admit it is chapter two which makes everyone sit up and take notice.
The next thing was to take the reader on a breathtaking roller-coaster read and keep them on the very edge of their seat. I hope I did that.
Enjoy the ride!!

More About the Author

Eileen Thornton lives in Kelso in the Scottish Borders. Though she only began writing in 2001, many of her short stories and article have appeared in several national magazines in the UK. But then she felt the urge to move on to writing something more gritty.

Her first novel, The Trojan Project, an action thriller, was published in 2008. "While writing it, I felt I was on the ride of my life. I tried to grab everyone's attention from the very start and give them a rollercoaster read."

Since then Eileen has concentrated on women's fiction. Divorcees.Biz, a novel of fun and romance, was published in 2012 with Only Twelve Days, a heart-warming romance, following in November 2013.

She is currently working on a sequel to Divorcees.Biz, entitled: I Haven't a Clue!

The Trojan Project by Eileen Thornton is a terrific thriller that had me gasping for breath. The author has done an outstanding job creating one of the best conspiracy thrillers I have ever read. It is The X-Files multiplied by a million. The quality of the writing is superb, the pace is perfect and the story is so believable and well laid out.
Set in the north of England farming community and London, The Trojan Project grabs the reader from page one with an unnatural disaster so terrifying it actually gave me nightmares. This is a superlative "What If" scenario of the highest order that never relents throughout and this reader was simply swept away by the author's brilliance at upping the ante with each chapter.
Sarah and her children survive the disaster but she is shocked to discover her whole community dead or dying of horrific injuries that defy logic and understanding. She goes for help and this is where the thrills race off at breakneck speed as something far more evil arrives in her small town. Sarah is beside herself not knowing what has happened to her husband Pete and is desperate to find him, but sinister forces are at work to stop her at every turn. And there are so many twists and turns to keep avid readers of thrillers gripping this book with white knuckles.
So without a doubt this FIVE STAR conspiracy thriller is very highly recommended and a must read for all lovers of conspiracies.

I definitely recommend this intriguing novel by Scottish author Eileen Thornton. It's a mystery thriller, beginning when strange green mist descends upon a Northumbrian farming community, dissolving all life into a puddle of toxic liquid. Everything and everyone who touches this is rapidly killed and liquefied.
When you start reading, all sorts of weird and wonderful scenarios go through your mind and the scary truth is revealed fairly early in the book. Don't worry, I won't spoil it for you, but it was not what I was expecting.
A few survivors manage to escape the toxic mist and are hunted down like fugitives by the culprits.
I found the characters well-written and engaging. A dastardly villain is revealed to add to the tension and sends minions out to capture the survivors before they can reach London and alert the authorities. Will the goodies reach safety, or will they be caught and the secret lost forever?
The novel is well-written and reminded me of Stephen King and the late Tom Clancy. Well done to the author and I look forward to reading more of her works.
Recommended for adult readers. Rating 5 stars * * * * *

A farmer’s wife waits for her husband to get home, and sees a green glow in the sky. But by dawn, Pete’s still not home, and Susan’s getting scared. It turns out there are plenty of things and people to be scared of in Eileen Thornton’s The Trojan Project, and the starting chapters certainly pull the reader in.

The speedy responses and evil corruption of military and political characters might seem a little unconvincing in this tale, but the plot’s well-drawn, with seeming coincidence nicely threaded into a web of evil intent. Only love can break the web – a woman’s love for her spouse, a sheep’s for its savior, a father’s for his children... Meanwhile love of money and power drive the secrecy behind evil experiments, and a danger’s unleashed that could destroy more than careers.

The action is slowed by backstory at times, but perhaps that’s as well as fugitives flee along the highways and byways of Britain at breakneck speed. I remember Bamburgh Castle. I love Seahouses. And I’m hooked. There’s a feel of old black-and-white TV shows to the story, serious plotting, convincing diversions, consistent compelling timing. And okay, I’m not convinced by the science or the scientists, but perhaps I don’t need to be. I’m eager to follow the tale through to its end, and I’m sure I’ll see a kindly, wise old sheep as the final credits roll.

Disclosure: I’d heard of this online and wanted to read it. Then I found it was free, so I did.

This novel will have you shivering throughout, what a roller coaster ride! This novel kept me riveted from page 1 until the end. Chemical warfare has been outlawed in most countries (at least I hope it has) but do governments ever really follow the law? And what happens when a madman decides he is going to unleash it on a part of the countryside knowing there is no antidote just so he can marry the woman he thinks should have been his. The government, the Prime Minister of England realizes that this mishap must be hidden from the public and all who were alive but saw what happened must not live to tell the tale. No one but a select few know why Sarah, her children and the police officer who helped her escape are being chased--nor why Pete and his ranch hand are being threatened. Will they make it to Sarah's parents house in London? Will the truth ultimately be revealed? All I know (or admittedly am willing to tell you since you know I won't give up a story that easily) is if you ever see a bright green object in the sky and then a mist--RUN like you've never run before!!

Filled with the suspense of an abnormal event creating a cover up and a chase of some who witnessed the event, this book will keep you reading as fast as you can to find out the ending. Truly a novel with a beginning, an exciting chase involving two separate groups that are being sought, and a wonderful and hopeful ending this is a really enjoyable read. The characters are drawn tightly, their strengths and weaknesses are evident immediately, and the threat of imminent death to each of them brings them to accomplish the hopeful ending. Fast paced and very well presented, highly recommended.
