This cookbook was created by a collaboration—and much love—between actor Stanley Tucci, his family, and his friends (especially Gianni Scappin, executive chef for New York’s Castellano restaurants), combining expertise and artistry to bring a simple culinary collection to life. As sometimes happens in collaborative cookbooks, here the identity of the particular creator of each of nearly 200 recipes is murky. Is it the professional, French-trained chef; Tucci’s mother or father or grandparents; or a very close family friend? Although the voice behind a particular recipe can be puzzling to identify, the end results are not unclear. Being a very busy business owner, I love the simple recipes and awesome photography. Many of the recipes are what I grew up with growing up in this family. Many of the recipes remind me of the wonderful past days when we all used to get together for Christmas. We had such a rich and loving environment. Rich in the sense of culture and tradition, some of which is passed on in this cookbook.

I've been a huge fan of Stanley Tucci since his turn as Julia Child's husband in Julie & Julia, and I was so excited to see him share his love of food, cooking, and his Italian heritage in this gorgeous cookbook. The recipes range from Italian food staples like lasagne to less traditional family favorites like poached pears, and all are accompanied by charming personal stories and easy to follow directions and wine pairings. And the food photography is just gorgeous -- I highly recommend to foodies and Tucci fans alike!

Forget about the fact that this cookbook is by a celebrity that we all LOVE...

This is one of the best Italian cookbooks I've ever bought (and I own an entire collection). Stanley Tucci's recipes are simple yet creative. He dedicates the book to his family (and ours!) and it couldn't be more appropriate. Filled with memories and flavors, this is a cookbook that not only celebrates Italian food but family! Trust me, you'll want to plan a dinner party the moment you crack open the spine. I'm going to buy a copy for everyone on my Christmas list!

The whole Tucci clan really know their food. In fact, they don't just know it; they live, breathe, dream it. And most of all, they eat it. From the preparing, to the assembling, the cooking to the eating, Stanley Tucci's enthusiasm for taste, flavour, and ultimately just good food literally jump from every page of this stunning new cookbook. First off, the photography really is mouth-wateringly sumptuous. And it comes with wine pairings - what more could you want?! I'm going home to make a risotto with butternut squash and lobster right now. And pair it with the perfect wine.

I've been a fan of Stanley Tucci since the movie Big Night -- and it's clear from THE TUCCI COOKBOOK that he puts as much care and attention into cooking a delicious Italian meal as he does with acting! Not only does the book include wonderful family stories and gorgeous photographs, the recipes are user-friendly and DELICIOUS. I made the eggplant and zucchini casserole and it was a knock-out!

This book is beyond helpful in the kitchen and a staple that everyone should have -- if you can cook or not. Some recipes are fast and easy and they allow you to be creative in the smallest of spaces. I highly suggest this book to anyone. Delicious foods, great ideas for any dinner party (or even dinner home for a smaller group).

I purchased this book only because I so very much enjoyed the film "Big Night", which Tucci directed and in which he starred. And I was curious if it would include the recipe for the timpano that was the centrepiece of the film's magnificently indulgent banquet. (It does.)

What we have here is a collection of simple recipes that characterise good, old-fashioned Italian home cooking. Some of them are incredibly simple - roast potatoes with rosemary, spaghetti with fresh tomatoes, and ziti with broccoli, for example. And none of them, not even the formidable timpano, is beyond any cook with even a modicum of experience.

Combined with the family lore in the introduction and included with most of the recipes, this is a comfortable and cosy book that will give you an appetite and inspire you to cook something delicious.
