Book Description

Trouble is brewing in LA, and a former Navy officer needs the help of her buddies. The ‘hammer’ (Chelsea Steele) has her back against the wall. Her sister Vanessa has been kidnapped, and no one will help find her. She calls on her best friend, ‘the ghost’ (Bart Nelson), for support.

Bart, Chelsea, and four other members of their team walked away from the Navy SEALs, being disgruntled after losing six comrades in an extraction gone bad. They are convinced something is rotten from the inside out. Nevertheless, this team left the force with something very valuable – something money cannot buy. Now they need to use those tools to help a friend.

Chelsea is a SEAL, too, unofficially of course. No woman is allowed to become a member of this elite group of Special Forces. She came through the back door as a demolition expert and is known as ‘the hammer’. There is a reason for that name just as there is a story behind ‘the ghost’.

Soon these six Navy SEALs uncover more than they could have ever imagined. Human trafficking is at the root of the abduction. It’s a big, bad, dangerous business, spanning the entire globe – orchestrated by high ranking officials and backed with hordes of money. But, they have now been put on notice. Someone is coming for them. Yet they issue their own edict: if ‘the hammer’ doesn’t get you, ‘the ghost’ will.

Editorial Reviews

Review

The Twelve Seals by Roger D. Grubbs was a very action packed book that contained many characteristics of a must-read. The story is about six individuals that have fought together in their days as Navy SEALs. Throughout their journey they all have developed a special friendship within each other, especially the two main characters in novel; Bart Nelson, and Chelsea. As four years passed without seeing each other, Chelsea is the reason for the six SEALs coming together for one more important task, cracking the code into human trafficking and saving Chelsea's sister. I enjoyed everything about this book. The plot not only was enjoyable, but very true as well. It made me as a reader not only kept my eyes glued to the book, but also allowed my mind to wonder into the world of human trafficking, and how fast it is growing throughout the world and how much money is earned within this industry. This book displays many different characteristics such as betrayal, heartache, love, courage, determination, and friendship. Each character in this book showed their many attributes throughout the book. Bart was one of the most compelling characters. His skills as a former SEAL did him great justice as him and his comrades traveled throughout the country, he provided the Chelsea with loving friendship as the journey fro her sister became a great struggle. As a reader I loved how the emotion could be felt between the two. They both continued to remain focused and determined as they were betrayed and back stabbed by the people they thought they could depend on to the end. Many people would enjoy this book and it should be recommended to everyone who is willing to read it. It not only provides good entertainment, but acts as an insight the world of human trafficking. --Courtney S. Miller

5.0 out of 5 stars Light on Human trafficking August 10, 2013
By Randy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am thankful to the author for writing a book about human trafficking. This topic needs a laser right on its heart and that's exactly what the author did. In particular, I appreciated the fact that he didn't make it full of language and sex to the point where a parent would not want their child to read the story. In my opinion, every teen and young adult should read this book.
The author does an excellent job portraying the message to the reader about what human trafficking really is. He demonstrates how it is complex and hard to crack such an organized under world.
The Seals were characters that make a young reader want to stand up, salute, and sign up to serve our country! I'm organizing a small charity event, locally, for this problem, and I feel more inspired to do so after reading this fine book.
Hats off to the author for writing it!

Good book, finished in less than a day. Mr. Grubbs, it's "border", not "boarder". Keep up the good work, you spin a good story.

I disagree on saying the Seals books are cheesy, I come from a large Military family. With that being said, I agree more books should be wrote about those who serve. I stuck to the story line and, won't knit pick on small details,. I Love your writing,Roger.
