5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Fruit Picker I've Used...
This invention is fantastic. Very simple, yet the most effective fruit picker I've used. I've tried various versions: the basket type, the kind with the little bag to catch your fruit, and the good ol' ladder. 1.0 out of 5 stars disappointing
Based on the numerous positive reviews I expected a better product. I wanted it mainly for avocados but it is not strong enough for most of ours. When we twist it slips off. No way to pull them off with it either. We'll probably get some use out of it, mainly for smaller papayas. Buyers should be aware that this thing is meant for a fixed-length pole. I need to...

This invention is fantastic. Very simple, yet the most effective fruit picker I've used. I've tried various versions: the basket type, the kind with the little bag to catch your fruit, and the good ol' ladder. After years of frustration with the typical pickers, I did some online research and found this little gem on Amazon.

It's built very well, and comes with everything you need sans a broomstick to get to work harvesting your fruits. I bought it specifically for persimmons, and it worked just as advertised. I got a 12' extender pole from my local hardware store, and in less than an hour was able to pick off many of the fruit that had been perched high above where the other pickers couldn't reach. I could have picked the tree clean because it was so easy and even fun, but the sun set before I could get too carried away.

The pulley system makes it very easy to operate, and the "tongs" at the end gently grabbed the persimmons without bruising them. I was also able to isolate single fruits in big clusters, which was impossible with the other pickers. These could be pulled off with ease without dropping any cluster neighbors. It's also easy to maneuver through tangled branches.

I also tried it on the avocado tree, as there was one big avocado at the top of the tree that had eluded my bag-type picker the week before. There was no problem snagging it off the tree. I'm sure it would work equally well on lemons, which is my next endeavor.

Highly recommended. Well designed, simple to use, and just plain effective. The seller is also very good. Fantastic customer service and prompt shipping. He includes instructions with the shipment to help you get started. Happy picking!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best! The Picker Paid For Itself In One Use, December 9, 2007

I'd give this this 10 stars if I could. For years I had been using a long reach fruit picking tool from Japan. But the long reach for the tool was 8-10'. I ended up leaving bushels of avocados behind because they were just unreachable. Nix that with the Twister..all you need is a long enough paint stick extension. Put the Twister on the end of the extension stick and if you can touch it, you got it. There's no dropped, bruised fruit, the tool holds the fruit secure. For the most part I can stay on the safely on the ground and still get to the top most avocados. I can safely and easily get all the fruit now, the Twister is the greatest!

5.0 out of 5 stars A unique Twist to fruit picking!, May 18, 2006

After years of purchasing products on Amazon, this is the first review I've written.

The product arrived in 2 days after ordering. As explained in the product description, the handle is not included for shipping cost concerns. The directions include specifications for the best type of handle to get, which I easily found at Lowe's.

I followed the directions to install the product onto the handle, which took about 3 minutes, and took it out to the large orange tree in our backyard. The Twister is as efficient as your hand in terms of being able to manuver to the fruit you want to pick, and picks off easily.

The product appears to be make of durable parts. The parts that might wear over time should be replaceable.

All in all, this product is worthy of your attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very much like reaching up with your hand., September 18, 2007

Hi Norris,

My husband put the picker on an extendable pole. We could see at the outset that the opening was going to be too large for the fruit we wanted to pick.

We put a couple of his thin cotton dress socks over the loops and zip-tied them in place and cut off the excess. We could pick more than one crab apple, or plums in clusters with the socks in place to hold the smaller fruit. Pantyhose would give a clear view, but I didn't have any.

It slipped right in the branches where anything larger is going to have difficulty. The trees have never been trimmed, are tall and on slopes where a ladder cannot not be used. Picking anything above what the deer have missed would not have been possible.

You can pick fruit safely standing on the ground as if just reaching up to pick fruit with your hand from a very low branch.

Thank you for creating such a great product.

Ann

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Picker, February 5, 2007

I received this picker as a gift and couldn't have been happier. It didn't come with a pole, but I used an extendable pole that came with a light bulb changing kit, and it works great. The picker is very easy to use. It doesent damage the fruit like the one with hooks and a basket. I would highly recommend.

I ordered the twister on Amazon, and received it in the mail 2 days later. It was very easy to set up. I got a traditional 4 foot handle, and bolted that to a 16' adjustable extension pole that I got at a pool supply store. Our apple tree is 30 feet tall in some places, and I wanted to be able to reach all the apples. I was able to easily adapt the rope/bungee for use with this longer pole. Entire setup took maybe 10 minutes. I went outside and started picking - this thing works GREAT!!! I can easily reach all the apples on the tree, and thread it through tight branches to reach all the apples. I picked about 100 apples in maybe 30 minutes. All you have to do is give it a quick spin, and it plucks the apple right off without disturbing other apples nearby. Sometimes it is a bit tricky to not knock off another apple, but I think of all the apples I picked, I only knocked down a few.

Overall, I think this product is EXCELLENT and I would highly recommmend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY effective; wish I had this years ago, November 26, 2006

Bought this for my Hachiya persimmon tree, which is pretty big (30 feet). For the many years I've been harvesting the tree, it has required some death-defying acrobatics to get at 80% of the fruit -- the other 20% was left behind. The tree size is not the only problem -- persimmon wood tends to be quite brittle, so a ladder can only be set against major branches.

I bought a 12 foot pole for use with the Twister Picker, and harvested 100% of the fruit, mostly while on a step ladder (but also used an extension ladder for the hard-to-get pieces). This device is excellent -- wish I had it years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you!!!!, June 14, 2009

I have a large orange tree in my back yard and had been using the basket type fruit picker, which was a complete disaster. Half the time I ended up pulling off a small branch when I got the orange or I would puncture the rind with one of the basket prongs. I had been looking for a better way and found the TwisterPicker. Super easy to assemble with a painting pole I got from Home Depot. Works like a charm. Easy to use and works just as its described. I went outside and harvested a dozen oranges from the top of the tree in a matter of minutes. Well made, easy to use, and works just as described. Looking forward to using this for the rest of the season on the orange tree and I am very much looking forward to seeing how it does on the peach and nectarine trees.

5.0 out of 5 stars Picky Picker, December 8, 2005

This is a great tool, works just like inventor said. Obviously well thought out. Was going to buy basket type picker when I saw this one and read the comment about the basket-type getting caught in branches of trees. So right! This one won't! Smart thinking here! Nice to have the choice between the basket and the Twisty Picker. This picky picker picked the Twisty Picker!
