Whether you're entirely new to Twitter or have been exploring it for awhile, this is the book to get if you're job-hunting (or looking to establish and/or expand your business).

Even if you've been fearful of jumping in, you'll soon "get" what Twitter is all about and be able to cut through the clutter to find what you want and make Twitter work for you. If you're an experienced user, you can skip the basics and go straight to the chapters that will help you develop a stand-out presence on Twitter and make the most of opportunities to connect with recruiters and employers.

There's lots of practical advice here, with specific examples of that advice being put into practice. Chapters by leaders in the field, including career coaches and personal branding experts, are like getting a personal consultation. You'll rethink your job search or marketing campaign after reading this book.

Well, this book tells you why twitter is more than the superficial fluff site I thought it to be. I really wasn't going to use it, esp since the # and all the 160 character stuff, and the fact I can't control who is "following me" like I can on Facebook and Linked In.

The book is well written easy to follow and got me up to speed. I recently taught a job search class at my church and people were amazed to learn that there are a LOT of jobs posted on Twitter - as well as ways to get attention in this crowded job market.

The rules have changed and this book does a very good job a spelling them out. It is concise, not expensive, up to date, and well worth the money!

In my quest to educate myself on the social media revolution afoot, came across this book in a local bookstore and as many people do, glanced through the book, and realizing what a treasure trove it is, decided to invest in it, because I wanted this book for myself! Serendipity is a funny thing - a while ago, had attended a webinar conducted by Chandlee Bryan, one of the co-authors and was pleasantly surprised to see that name on this book.

In many situations, people are tempted to pick up a book such as this one in a bookstore, glance through it, see some interesting ideas, concepts, jot them down, and then move on the next book that looks and feels content rich. Not this book. Do not let the appearance of this book fool you. It has the same heft as any of the other books that it sits with on the shelves.

It is much more than how to use Twitter for a job search. It is more like a Twitter best practices book - one not only for people looking for a job but rather for anyone who wants to understand the basics of how to get started on Twitter, where to look for people to follow, how to decide who to follow, why and how to create content to have people follow you, and analyze trends - not just of your followers, but also popular Twitter gurus.

In this day of the 4S which has Twitter embedded in its core architecture, for anyone not convinced, or is hesitant on using Twitter because they do not have the time to find out where to begin, or have a desire to understand the power of Twitter as an information distribution channel and as a means to rapidly share news effortlessly, but do not know where to begin, this book is an absolute must. It will eliminate that fear, remove all misconceptions, and in no time you will be on way to being an active participant in the dawn of the 140-byte information age.

I heard about this book in 2010 from a podcast (Secrets of the Job Hunt?) I was listening to while commuting to southern California. I finally got around to ordering the book. I received it on May 2, 2011.
I must admit that I found Twitter baffling. I didn't really understand the concept. But after reading this book and playing around with Twitter I finally understood how Twitter works. So I thank the authors for that.
I'm highly educated (Ph.D.) and in my 50s. So I expect each job hunt to take longer and longer. How do I reduce that amount of time? One answer is to set up passive job search systems to make myself easy to find. It occurred to me while reading this book that the larger the number of communication channels, the shorter the job search will be. Ideally I could move seamlessly from one job to the next as necessary. Twitter is one such communication channel.
Will Twitter find me a job? I doubt it. Will the combination of Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, a blog, a web page and anything else I can think of to let people know I exist do it? Yes, I hope so.
