A childhood favorite, March 19, 2011
This review is from: The Two Princesses of Bamarre
Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine has been a favorite book of mine since childhood. While the plot is at times predictable, the characters are easy to relate to and may stay with you after the novel is over. The plot is a straightforward one: a tale of overcoming fear in order to save a beloved sister and a journey of self-discovery. Along the way, Adelina, the heroine, is helped through the efforts of her good friends: her governess, Bella, and her dear friend, Rhys the sorcerer. As a plus, this book also has a shy romance as a subplot.
All in all, I recommend this book to all, but try to appreciate it for what it is and not focus too much on what it is not. A great book for those pre-teen years and for re-reading years later.
