More About the Author

Quintessence ("Tess") Challis began her holistic health journey in her late teens. After a lifetime of numerous health ailments (including acne, obesity, strep throat, constant illnesses, anxiety, and depression), she found that a vegan diet along with an "inner wellness regime" of meditation and visualization literally made a world of difference.

In 1994, she began sharing this knowledge through cooking classes, catering, meditation classes, and workshops. She has also been a personal chef to many clients across the United States.

In 2009, Tess published the 2nd edition of Radiant Health, Inner Wealth, a vegan cookbook and complete holistic health resource. Tess's second book, The Two-Week Wellness Solution: The Fast Track to Permanent Weight Loss and Vitality, was released in June 2010 and includes a foreword by Dr. Neal Barnard. Her latest book, Radiance 4 Life: The 4 Cornerstones of Ultimate Vitality, was just published in June 2011 and includes a foreword by Robert Cheeke.

She currently works as a wellness coach, healthy cooking instructor, and speaker.

I have both The Two-Week Wellness Solution and Radiant Health, Inner Wealth and while there are some duplicate recipes between the two, there are enough differences that I am glad I have both. Between them I have made over 40 recipes and I am loving trying new foods! I have not done the 2-week meal plan as detailed in the book, but I have made many recipes out of the book and I have loved every one! If you are going to do the 2 Week Plan, each day has the 5 meals specified as well as a shopping list and do-ahead tips. The recipes are categorized as "green" (high-fiber, low fat whole foods) and "blue" (which include higher-fat plant foods and/or natural sweeteners such as agave nectar). My favorites include Tess' Happy Salad, Mediterranean Chickpea Salad, Strawberry Spinach Salad, Triathlon Tostadas, Cranberry-Lime Confetti Quinoa, and many, many more! This is a great cookbook and along with RHIW these are my two most used cookbooks!

I'll admit, I am buds with the author and recipe tested this book. However, that doesn't bias my opinion of the recipes Tess has put together for this collection, a follow up to her first book Radiant Health, Inner Wealth. The two week plan is solid advice for getting eating back on track. As a vegan of several years, it was refreshing to get some advice to fine tune my eating. The recipes are mostly quick and easy to put together and use--for the most party--foods easily found in a grocery store. Favorite recipes include cajun tofu wraps, three bean salad, simple split pea soup, Thai dipping sauce (great on everything!), and both raw kale salads. I would suggest cutting back on the garlic a bit - Tess is a mega fan but it makes things a bit spicy for me :)

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I have both of Tess's books. I rarely reach for another cookbook. It is all there... healthful cooking/living, recipes that are easy to make and turn out better than expected, a positive outlook and lighthearted fun. I have lost 33# in the last year (and have easily kept it off) following her advice. I feel better now than at any point in my life. If you are tired of being tired, of feeling deprived in order to lose weight, of feeling beat down and not loving yourself, or just want some great recipes I encourage you to give Tess's books a chance to prove to you that you can do it and you are worth it...SO WORTH IT!

I did her 2 week meal plan for better wellness! I am also one of the success stories in the book. I really love all the ideas and how it is laid out... I really think this is a great plan and book.
