Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Ros Clarke is a British author of contemporary romance novels, novellas and short stories. She has always loved to read romantic fiction and now she's happy to be sharing her own romance ebooks with her readers. She likes to write bright, happy stories that are a quick read with a touch of humor, heroes that are not too alpha-male, and heroines who you'll want to cheer for. Some of her books are sweet romances with the bedroom door kept shut, and others have a sexier feel to suit the characters and story.

3.0 out of 5 stars good story needs editing April 14, 2013
By karin
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed the story. It almost seems plausible, however some of the story line needs editing. about halfway through the book issues with the story happen. fiancee/wife/husband, marriage/engagement start being used inconsistantly, then a pretense to encourage a client and his wife back to the apartment by offering to share some of his fine scotch when the clients are supposed to be "teatolers" due to an alcoholic brother who died...its the little things like that, that are as annoying as spelling errors and should have been caught by an editor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little story. October 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I really fell for the characters in this novella. Emily's 15 year unrequited love affair with the focussed tycoon had me turning the pages (electronically of course!) as fast as I could read.

Ros Clarke has a way of writing characters that are real and a little different from the normal romantic heroines of most of this genre.

My only criticism? A whole novel next time please!

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent book, but someone was confused May 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book is a decent one. I found myself really liking the main character. The thing I didn't like about the book is the fact that whoever wrote the book seemingly got confused somewhere because the whole premise of the story was that the characters were pretending to be engaged (but not married because the female character refused to take it that far) yet the story kept switching between "fiance/fiancee" and "husband/wife" several times. Since it was a main character point at the beginning, it made the mistakes rather jarring.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really Good short story! April 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The Tycoon's Convenient Wife starts with Emily getting a call from the Guy who broke her heart all of those years ago. She realizes that this isn't some sort of "date" even though he is now divorced. They meet up and he proposes a business deal to her, and she doesn't want to accept at first but she wants to change her life so she is willing to accept this deal.
Things seem to be going good, until Emily realizes she still loves Guy, time hasn't changed that but it has changed him some. He now won't allow him self to love, and she knows once this deal is over her heart will be broken once again by the only man who she has ever given it to. This book has some humor, and a very interesting story line. I enjoyed it a lot for a short story, and I highly recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Tycoon's Convenient Wife January 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sorry, this one was not a winner for me. Mostly because the main character (Emily) was a weak wallflower. I like my female mains to have some sense of self and this woman was just a doormat. After dropping her from his life to marry another woman, he just pops back in looking for a fake wife? I would have shown that dude the door...with my foot. Emily agrees to it and constantly interrupts her life and dreams to live a lie.
Also, it bothered me that Guy's son was hit by a car and had to have surgery and he was more worried about this merger? Um, yeah, not real husband material there. Not to mention he sees his kids once in 6 weeks?
Sorry, sometimes a HEA isn't really worth it and Guy had loser stamped all over his forehead.

This is one great book I was beginning to think that Guy was going to really mess things up but I am so glad that things turned out for the best. I would like to read about how they make their lives work in the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wife?
Throughout the book and the title it refers to wife.
But it was never a marriage.
Not sure why.
It was a nice book, with a nice story.

No sex scenes.
