Good but . . . April 8, 2012
Format:Paperback
in the present tense so the book started off on the wrong foot with me and I think overall it was about one hundred and fifty pages too long. I am still considering whether the ending was convincing or not.

Abi and Cleo have not been close as sisters since their lives took very different paths when they were teenagers. Cleo was talent spotted by a model agency and her career launched as a top model. She has since married - Jonty - and had two children - Tara and Megan.

Now Cleo wants to get her career back on track. She invites Abi to stay with them for the summer. But has Cleo invited Abi because she wants to resurrect their relationship or because she sees her as a free babysitter now the nanny has walked out without giving notice?

Abi isn't sure about her motives but she finds herself getting on well with her two nieces and with their father - perhaps she is getting on too well with him. Abi gets herself a two day a week job in a bookshop to try and stop Cleo relying on her to take care of the children and to expand her social life.

I enjoyed the book up until about page one hundred and seventy five and then my interest flagged and reading the rest was something of a chore. Abi was too `good' and Cleo was too `bad' and Jonty was a bit too much of a cardboard cut out. I could never really form a proper picture of Richard, the book shop owner. I did enjoy the way Abi's growing relationship with her two nieces was portrayed and I thought that was well done. Unfortunately at times I wanted to shake Abi and tell her to sort herself out which rather diminished my enjoyment of the book.

If you are a fan of Jane Fallon then I am sure you will love this book but it I'm afraid I didn't enjoy it.

Mixed Feelings March 4, 2012
By Yasmin
Format:Paperback
I have mixed feeling about this book. In one side of the coin I loved Jane's writing style, it is so down to earth and easy to get into, but on the other side, I thought that the rivarly between the sisters was pathethic.

First, we meet Abi, who is thirty- eight, a single mother,part-time librarian who is not into material possessions and considers herself to be not so pretty and lucky in life. Then we soon meet Cleo, who is Abi's older sister, who was a very successful supermodel, but is now married to a gorgeous man and mother of two daughters. According to Abi, Cleo is very selfidh, egocentric and only cares about social staus, material things and being on the front cover of magazines. Which is very true!

Then the rest of the book, just goes about how the Abi tries to restore the little relationship the two sisters had before Cleo's carrer started.

I have to say that I felt sorry for Abi! Couldn't she see that for most parts she was behaving like a teenager, trying to get her sister to like her? Trying to turn her sister into something she is not? HEY, I'm not on Cleo's side, because she was a total bitch! A careless mother and wife, who was only into herself, would do whatever she had to , to get what she wants. Then we meet Cleo's husband Jon, who is a wonderful father and husband, who is trying to make the best of his marriage for the sake of his daughters, but then something happens... I wonder if Abi, followed her heart if things would have turned out differently!

But what I'm trying to say is that, Abi should have not wasted her time, instead she should have lived her life! Just move on, instead of lingering in the past.

However, I did like the end because Abi, at last gets to see the true colous of her sister. It would be interesting if there was a sequel of the book, or if it even was turned into a movie. I think that I would want to watch it!
