It's a great book to sit down and read, give as a gift, or keep on the coffee table for friends to flip through.

This provided me a nice reminder of what really matters in life and how to achieve it...by underachieving.

My wife and I picked up "The Underachiever's Manifesto" on a whim and read it together over a glass of wine. We're both a little driven, and we laughed aloud at the book's tongue-in-cheek advice about how to let someone else be excellent for a change. From the "blank pages" at the end to the obligatory top ten list to the quiz to determine your Underachiever's Quotient, the Manifesto is a delight. I'd write a longer review, but . . . just buy it and read it. Is that so hard?

Get this book instead and save hundreds of dollars. I read this book in about 20 minutes and it changed my attitude completely. I loved it. It's hilarious. I wanted to buy the book in bulk so I can hand them out to my friends. It's the perfect gift for anyone with a sense of humor.

After years and years of searching, seeking, trying and crying, I have discovered the true vanity of useless overachieving. During the reading of its Divine prose, I felt the finger of God (middle finger to be specific) protract to crepitate about my cranium jolting my being with a new awakening.
This was enlightenment, illumination, radiance, clarification of the highest order. Unlike reading scripture where God is chasing me down with a scepter, beating me over my backsliding head like an abandoned shame prognosticator, I was instead elevated above my inner stepchild. I was exculpated and found not wanting.
This lilliputian read contains Oceans, literal Worlds of wisdom not to be found in even the most enormous of behavioral, social, psychological and instructional volumes of scientific theoretic vomit that consumes the market.
Commit yourself to drop the measly few bucks you normally waste in the health food isle to this little gift from the inspiration of the The Creator.
Dr. Bennett knows his fecal matter. He knows just where you went wrong and how you need to deal with your inner over-tight sphincter.
It was and continues to be--good enough, even for the overachiever who thinks they isn't.

I am a type 1 personality who is, in many ways, the typical overachiever. This book was given to me as a gift and I almost read it completely in one sitting - it's that good (and short). While much of the book is prone to hyperbole and satire, there is a great message that can be found underneath the well-timed humor: sometimes you just need to relax. The humorous reminder that no one is perfect is refreshing in the face of a busy life with many demands. Anyone who is extraordinarly pressured by work, family and life-in-general, should pick up this little book - or - pass it on to your favorite overachieving friend.

I've had this book for well over a year now and it seems to always help me calm down when I'm freaking out from taking on too much or pressuring myself to do too much. We create little prisons in our heads with all the things we "have to" do and be; The Underachiever's Manifesto is like shining a light on a bunch of shadows that weren't even true in the first place. It's like zen concentrate, powerfully packed in a few handsome pages. An absolutely kickass book. I don't often write reviews, but this book barely has any online presence so I wanted to share the fact that I think it's BRILLIANT.

Forget all the corporate babble the Tom Peter's, Jack Welch's, Donald Trump's and all the collective HR nimrods of American industry have been feeding corporate executives for the past 25 years! Dr. Bennett's book is a simple, accurate and elegant approach to address the "Type A" crisis that is currently plaguing our schools, corporations and financial markets.

"The tallest blade of grass is the surest to be cut!" Words to remember when security is walking you out to the parking lot with a cardboard box of our desk belongs! READ THIS BOOK AND PASS IT ON!

Wow. What a find this book was for me! Everyone I've lent it to, says they love it. I laughed out loud through much of it. It takes less than an hour or two to read, but really makes you think, without overthinking.

"The Underachiever's Manifesto" is a great book for underachievers AND overachievers alike. It's a funny, clever book; from the hyphenated title on the cover to the purple end pages to the chapter entitled "Some Blank Pages"...yet there are many genuine pearls of wisdom too. There are plenty of good points that will make the overachiever in your life relax a little, but also make the underachievers in your life feel a lot more comfortable and accepting of who they are.

It's a great book to sit down and read, give as a gift, or keep on the coffee table for friends to flip through. It's legitimate material in a funny package.
