I've been laughing out loud with this ever since I first read it ca. 1980 (when I was in 8th grade).

Things to note:
* The humor-writing style is very much of its era, which makes it an interesting cultural time capsule (and/or an annoyance). Fortunately, it's not wordy.
* The tennis parts (players/technique/conflicts) will be funny to tennis players at any level -- beginner to expert.
* The tennis parts also reflect their era, including things like grass courts, wooden racquets, etc., which make it an interesting historical perspective.
