This review is from: The Unicorns War Softly (Kindle Edition)
I'm not a huge 'sword and sorcery fantasy' fan beyond liking the Lord of the Rings movies, and I'll be honest that I picked this up because I met the author in an online forum. She was really nice and it was only .99 cents. I am surprised to say I really enjoyed this. Those who know me know I never give five stars unless something really blows me away. The stories in this collection are nothing like what I expected. A few of them are quite whimsical and fun. The two really serious ones are Page Seventy-Five and Elements of Warfare. I'm even thinking about picking up a one of her fantasy novels because of this just to try it and see if I like it. Overall, a decent read worth the asking price and a nice introduction to the work of S. J. Reisner. I have read her dark urban fantasy/paranormal mystery (the Audrey Brice stuff) and I like that even more than this, so if you prefer urban fantasy or contemporary mystery novels that's another good starting point if you've never read this author's work.

More About the Author

S. J. Reisner began writing at the age of ten and never stopped. Left Horse Black, the first in her fantasy series, was the product of a thirteen year daydream. The second book in the series, Warrior's Blood Red, is the latest release.

She is currently working on Eagle's Talon Gray, the third book in the series and is writing occult/paranormal mysteries under a different pen name. When she isn't writing fiction, she's writing non-fiction books and articles under yet a different pen name. This is why her fantasy fiction release dates have been sporadic.
