Dear Fritz,
I have accomplished a first reading through "The Unity of Truth!" The three of you (authors) deserve recognition and thanks. You have really created something commendable here. I like especially well that you Christian people refrain from getting into quarrels with Science. You demand no "sacrificium intellectus," but rather acknowledge the achievements of the scientific endeavor both in its strength and in its limitation. That is to say: religious speech can make use of other "languages:" poetic, expressive etc. But religion can not take a declarative stand in contradiction to the speech of science. (God is communicating without violating any of the laws of science.)
Based on this premise you attempt to demonstrate the compatibility of theological and scientific insights. In that you are surprisingly successful. What convinced me is your use of paradox figures of thought, descriptive both of fundamental theological questions (the mystery of trinity;unalloyed and undivided) as well as of the definitive relationship of theology and science.
These factors make your book different, in a positive way, from those whose authors adopt an "either-or" manner in an attempt to convince their readers of the validity of the word-play of science alone, or of theology. I especially like the chapter on "Sacrifice."
I'll write again with some more refined commentaries.
Meanwhile again many thanks and hearty greetings
Hermann

I spent more time than usual reading a book of this size because I became educated in the fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics. Allen explained it well enough that even an English major, elementary school teacher could grasp the point. Once the technical concepts were clear, the idea was profound. It is a must read for the person with an open and progressive mind.
P.S. I may have had a little help since my Husband and I read it together and he is an Engineer/Physicist.

(Dear Fritz,) Thank you very much for sending me a copy of "The Unity of Truth: Solving the Paradox of Science and Religion." What a thoughtful, rational and also poetic approach!
I so appreciate that you include the concepts of paradox and mystery and that you point to the vastness of God. Ending the book on faith and truth is so helpful and gives me new ways to speak to Biblical literalists about the marvels of God's ongoing creation.
I am grateful for your insight, your attention to these sensitive issues, and for sharing this book with me...
