More About the Author

Linda J. Alexander grew up with the 'seventies entertainment scene, fascinated by people on TV and in the movies, as well as characters in those romance novels she couldn't put down. After doing the hustle, watching "The Mod Squad," and listening to the Monkees and Herman's Hermits on her Duster's car radio, eventually she interviewed and wrote about some of those people ... entertainers who'd earlier engaged her imagination. She also discovered a fascination for Hollywood's Golden Era when romance was romantic, stories had serious plot--and the political world worked much the same as it does today.

Linda now entertains others with her writing. The most recent of 6 published books is A MAVERICK LIFE: THE JACK KELLY STORY, out in November 2012. This is the biography of TV and movie actor, and California politician, Jack Kelly. Kelly was the co-star of TV's "Maverick" from 1957 - 1962, guest-starred on virtually every episodic TV show that ever aired from the 1960s - the 1980s, and ultimately became a city council member and mayor of Huntington Beach, California.

RELUCTANT WITNESS: ROBERT TAYLOR, HOLLYWOOD & COMMUNISM came out in 2008. It tells the story of Robert Taylor, one of Hollywood's most handsome leading men of all times, from small-town Nebraska roots to his death in 1969. Taylor's most defining moment was a subpoenaed appearance in front of 1947's House Un-American Activities Committee in response to a tangible fear of Communism in the United States. He was as popular as Ronald Reagan and even John Wayne, yet today is incorrectly remembered most as the actor who "named names." Linda's book sets the record straight.

Linda has published 2 other nonfiction books, THE UNPROMISED LAND, a biography of a Messianic Jewish couple, and DOROTHY FROM KANSAS MEETS THE WIZARD OF X, a look into the adult film world, in addition to two novels of dark, sexy intrigue--UNTIL NEXT TIME and WEEKENDS IN NEW ENGLAND. UNTIL NEXT TIME will be re-published in 2012 as IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN under the pseudonym, Melonee Prevost, set in a new locale with fresh, updated characterizations and surprising new twists.

Let's see if I can get this right. They are born Jewish, keep the Jewish traditions and holy days, read the Jewish scriptures (including the ones written by first century Jews), and believe in a Jewish Messiah who was prophesied about in Jewish scriptures. So what's the problem?
Most Christians who understand prophesy clearly know that the Gentiles were the ones who were "grafted in" to the chosen people of God through their faith, not through their lineage(and by "chosen" God meant that He chose to reveal himself through the Jewish people, not that he loves others less). WE Christians are the converts, not vice versa. We are Gentiles who believe in a Jewish Messiah. The Beresfords do a good job of presenting the dilemma faced by Messianic Jews: that both sides will find reasons to reject them. My heart goes out to them.

I think this book, and the comments about it, highlights the struggle Messianic Jews have struggled with for 1800 years from their Rabbinic brothers, for despite what self-proclaimed anti-missionaries may say, there has always been a remnant of Jews who "kept the commandments of G-d and kept faith in Mashiach, Yeshua." Obviously, as the comments above show, those that practice Rabbinic Judaism have a complete ignorance of what Messianic Jews believe or they misunderstood Moshe himself, for Messianic Jews keep the Torah of Moshe---they just may not necessarily keep the so-called "Oral" Torah of the Rabbis. Ignorance spread by a confusion with Christian theology, which stood in opposition to Messianic theology since the Council of Nicea and Constatine's "converstion" to "Christianity," perpetuates hatred amongst the children of Avraham... amongst brothers. Even if you don't have an interest in the plight of Messianic Jews (Jews that keep the Torah, discard man-made law that contradict Torah, and believe that Yeshua was the Jewish Messiah who never broke the Torah or taught others to do the same despite Christian theology to the contrary), this book is an interesting account of hatred, discrimination, and hyprocracy in the modern world.

It is amazing the treatment that the Beresfords got while attempting to immigrate to Isreal. How the Jewish could be so cold and willing to cannibalize their own simply for embracing Jesus(Y'shua) as the Messiah is simply astounding. Especially when you consider all the turmoil that the Jews as a people have gone through over the centuries. It is quite amazing that they consider it better if a Jew doesn't believe God exists at all rather than if he believes that Jesus died for the sins of the world. (I know of Jews who have MUCH more crazy beliefs and they aren't considered non-Jewish because of it).
This is a great book and will open your eyes to facts about Isreal that you wouldn't believe.

This is a great book for explaining the plight of Messianic Jews in Israel. But all you need to do is read the previous 2 reviews to understand the hatred that SOME Jews have for those who have chosen a different path. They haven't reviewed the book, they've simply slammed it because they don't like Messianic Jews. The truth is you can believe ANYTHING you want, or you can believe NOTHING at all and if you were born Jewish, Israel will welcome you with open arms. You can be a follower of any of the dozens of false messiahs throughout Jewish history or you can believe God is a turnip and that's okay! You can even be Muslim and that's all right. But if you believe Jesus was the Jewish Messiah, oh, well that's different!
