Editorial Reviews

Review

''Favorable first impressions are no longer an option. The way you look and act will determine the outcome of the meeting, the success of your relationship, and your own personal success. You must look sharp and act right to win big. Three words of advice: Buy this book! Four words of advice: Implement Clint's wisdom NOW!'' --Jeffrey Gitomer, author, The Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude

''I speak for all mothers of young men when I say, 'Tuck in your shirt, comb your hair, shave, and for heaven's sake, pull up your pants; no one wants to look at your underwear.' But if you won't listen to me, please listen to Clint. He's smart, funny, plus he dresses how your mother (and your future employers) wish you would. I will stand over my son with a stick while he reads this book!'' --Donna Fenn, business journalist and author of Upstarts! and Alpha Dogs

''In an increasingly impersonal world, powered by e-mail and all things digital, personal touches matter that much more. From choosing the right office attire to mastering meeting etiquette, Clint offers advice on everything they forgot to teach you in business school. Consider it your survival guide for today's professional world.'' --Rod Kurtz, executive editor, AOL Small Business

A straightforward, concise guide to appropriate dress and deportment for the man who wants to get ahead in his company. It has all the key elements of Molloy's Dress for Success, but in a more approachable and succinct manner.

I wish I had read this book many, many years ago. I haven't had a chance to use these 'rules' yet. I disagree slightly with the author's recommendation for a full windsor knot.
Neck size and facial structures (bones and soft tissue), I believe, determine collar style and choice of knot for your tie. Full Windsor goes best with Wide collar; Four-In-and or Half-Windsor works better with Forward Point collars (whether Button-Down collar or not (pun not intended). For long, thin necks or narrow face, Wide collar and Full Windsor are OK; for thick or short necks with wider facial structures, Forward Point or 'Standard' collars with Four-In-Hand or Half-Windsor knots are more appropriate. As he mentions, however, your overall appearance AND Behaviors (Etiquette, etc.) are important. This book is well worth the price.
