About the Author

L. J. Smith has written a number of bestselling books and series for young adults, including The Vampire Diaries (now a hit TV show), The Secret Circle, The Forbidden Game, Night World, and the New York Times #1 bestselling Dark Visions. She is happiest sitting by a crackling fire in a cabin in Point Reyes, California, or walking the beaches that surround that area. She loves to hear from readers and hopes they will visit her updated website at www.ljanesmith.net.

More About the Author

Lisa Jane Smith is the New York Times #1 Bestselling author of The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, The Forbidden Game, Dark Visions, Wildworld and Night World series. She has written over two dozen books for children and young adults, and has enjoyed writing every one of them. She lives in the Bay Area of California, with a backyard that is full of flowers, which she adores, especially with many different shades of roses.

She loves to visit a friend's little cabin in the Point Reyes National Seashore area, which has lots of trees, lots of animals, lots of beaches to walk on, and lots of places to hike. Once, while hiking, she saw a snow-white buck which allowed her to follow it nearly half a mile. She also likes to collect things: angels (they remind her of her late mother), tiny boxes from different countries or of fanciful shape, nineteenth century children's literature, and books about quantum physics--especially about the mystery of the dark energy in the universe. A militant optimist, she is also part of the Velociraptor Sisterhood (a fancy way of saying that she likes to read, write and discuss books with strong female characters), and she has traveled extensively in Europe and the Far East. The two countries she loves to visit most are Great Britain, with its historic monuments and amazing country landscapes, and Japan, with its bustling urban life and exquisite mountain scenery.

Her favorite current writer is Terry Pratchett, the author of the Discworld series, for its wild and witty satires on life, death, war, love, assassins, coppers, and Australia. Her favorite classical writer is Jane Austen. Her favorite poets are Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson. Her favorite movies are The Seven Samurai and Avatar (analyze that!). She doesn't have a favorite TV show, because she doesn't have time to watch TV (and only owns one for playing movies).

Her favorite people are her readers, each of whom she cherishes with deep and lasting affection.

I did enjoy this story a lot, but I feel like at the end they could have used another whole book to explained what happened.
Ally
I hope there will be other books so we see the love grow and more adventures with Elena and the Salvatore brothers.

I liked this Elena a lot. She made decisions stuck with them and was a better person. But it wasn't just because Stefan per sue, like it was in the first book. Its because the decisions she made were ones she should of made in the first place. She was much kinder and selfless more mature. Because of this Elena's friends lead better lives that didn't circle around Elena with her wants and needs. It was also sweet that all the decisions (like her prom dress etc) instead of trying to fish for Stefan. She really put Damon first. Like wearing a red dress to prom instead if wearing an Italian reinassance dress for Stefan. Damon became a better person and faster bc Elena really showed him he was worthy even in the beginning he had a good heart. Someone just needed to take a chance on him and show him love. In the end Elena ended up with the right person but it felt rushed. The last couple of pages. Other than that it was a great book. I always felt in the earlier books Elena was alittle too codependent on Stefan in a unhealthy way especially at her young age. But it all changed and she became a woman and found her man. You can only run from destiny so long. But is he human or vampire its left unknown. Let's just say he told her he'd have her in the end.:-)

After reading all of you guys comments I am not sure I want to read this one anymore .I was so ready to go buy this one could not wait to read it but finding out about them jumping on this whole Elena belongs with Damon and then having them end up together. I am sorry to those who are but I have never been a Delana shipper. I was never interested in the moments she was with him. That was why I no longer watch the TV show is because the whole Delana thing....

And it is like someone said what was the point of all the past books if they were going to end it this way?

I love the vampire diaries, from all the reviews on the book I was afraid to read it. I stopped reading TVD books a ways back because the storylines were just hard to get into, ( I believe this was on the newer books that had been continued after the original 5 or so from the 1990s) This book was a must read

So excited to read the book and an hour and a half later I'm done. Just when the story was coming around it stopped. Feels like they forgot to print the other half to the book. So bummed.

SPOILER ALERT!
It was really nice to relive the first book with a twist. I'm team Delena so I really wanted them to be endgame but at a certain point I was beginning to think she wouldn't end up with either of them and I hated that more. I would gladly ship Stelena if it meant she'd end up with a Salvatore. If she hadn't I would have felt like all the books were for nothing even more than I already do. But when she saw Damon in the airport and she said her "destiny had caught up with her after all" I seriously got teary eyed. Then it brought a smile to my face when she said "she knew she was home." My Delena feels. It ended perfectly but I still would like to see how Damon and Elena will make it work now that she's not a guardian and I'd also like to know how Stefan is doing. I hope he found love too. But with TVD books they can change everything with a blink of an eye, so maybe it's best if they leave it here lol. #Delena4Ever
