More About the Author

S.J. Wright first began writing stories when she was twelve years old. She has been a cashier, a receptionist, a factory worker and has served a multitude of other roles over the years. Her favorite role has been that of a mother to her two sons. She lives in Texas with her family.

The Undead in Brown County series takes place in Brown County, Indiana. S.J. and her husband spent a few days there after they were married in 2002. She began writing the series in October of 2010. In February of 2011, she published her first novel The Vampire's Warden as an ebook on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Since then, she has released three more books in the series and is working on a fifth.

I wasn't even a big fan of vampire books or movies until I read this series!

It's a self-pub so the editing is a little thin.

I read the 3 available books straight through and was initially impressed. A great premise that the author could do so much with, such great potential...that apparently nosedived. The heroine was a strong likeable character, then as the novellas progressed she apparently regressed to a love starved hormonal teenager that just realized boys found her attractive. She needs to see a doctor to get some sort of counseling because her behavior and codependency for any creature of the opposite sex is disturbing. I believe as the the story continues she will get her head screwed on straight and realize that her instant bonds, instant connections, or whatever tingles she gets whens he meets a new man needs to be reeled in because she is beginning to be borderline for lack of better words, whorish. Which in all honestly if it wasn't for that distraction, very big distraction, the story would still have flowed well. Overall Book 1 and Book 2 were good, Book 3 however fell flat.

After a weekend of reading all 3 of the Undead in Brown County series I just had to leave a review. I have loved all 3 books and cannot wait to find out what happens between Michael, Sarah, Alex and Jackson. Without giving away the story, the books are very well written and capture you from the word go, a must as far as I am concerned.

I really like this series. However it was to short for me. I can't wait until the next book comes out!

Loved all of three in the series, wish there were more. They were all cleverly written, and kept you wanting to read until done, and then wanting more.

Ok, I have to admit, I got book #1 as a free Kindle download and then bought #2 and #3 even though the writing bothered me. Somewhere in the middle of book #2 we start head jumping and the chapters are from varying characters points of view. I personally think the author must have tired of being in Sarah's head because she's so annoying. She's constantly reflecting on how tough she is but I'm pretty sure she cries at least once a chapter. This might be a spoiler but being "tough" apparently is demonstrated by taking physical swings at people (or vampires). Anyway even when we head jump its still in first person so the author has to tell you who's POV you're reading that chapter. My 9-year old daughter writes this way, which is maybe why I found the characters and writing kind of immature.

It's a self-pub so the editing is a little thin. The tenses are off "I walk into the room" when it should be "I walked into the room." But I could overlook that. It was the lack of any real emotional connection between the characters that was disappointing. Sarah is even more fickle than Sookie Stackhouse, without any of the justifiable reasons.

All 3 are quick reads (i.e. they are very short, probably because we don't waste a lot of words on developing the characters). But they were light easy reads if you are looking for a quick unwind before bed.

The Vampire's Redemption is so captivating, you can't put it down. I don't think it matters how long Ms Wright makes the story, we'll always want more! I wasn't even a big fan of vampire books or movies until I read this series! Hats off to you Ms Wright, and keep 'em coming!!

This was probably one of the better books of the three. I have read a lot of series and this one was pretty good but not my favorite. There is a good story there but at times I found myself getting sidetracked which is unusual. It didnt keep me focused like these type of books normally do. If your looking for a short series I recommend this series for you.
