Editorial Reviews

After three hit seasons of mayhem on Adult Swim, the brothers Venture are ready to branch out into music with this soundtrack, featuring the best tracks from seasons one and two. Your ears will explode with wonder as you make your way through twenty tracks of Venture goodness from composer JG Thirlwell of Foetus fame. Even Brock might crack a smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music that will BLOW YOUR MIND!!!! April 16, 2009
Have been waiting about 5 years for J.G. Thirwell's high octane music for VENTURE BROS. to be ripped from the visuals of the show, so this a more than welcomed release. However, I had no idea that the item above was an LP release, as it is indicted in the albums Amazon description as a "Disc." Fortunately, a CD version of the score can be found on [Adult Swim]'s website, under "Music." Or go here - [...] Also, be aware that the CD version features 20 tracks, while the vinyl LP release is limited to only 16 tracks.

Hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously good music. November 12, 2009
Format:MP3 Music
Don't let the fact that this is a soundtrack from an animated television series fool you, JG Thirlwell has obviously put a great deal of investment in this project. His work with the Kronos Quartet is fantastic and this is an unmistakable outreach from those efforts.

One of the more frustrating component s of writing commercial music is the limitation on length but with the exception of the few tracks under :60, Thirlwell provides well developed themes that have direction and motion. If you're a fan of the Venture Brothers, this album should more than satisfy a long empty hole in your heart and if you've never heard of the series before, you'll simply enjoy the music.

Hopefully, this album is the first of several more to come along with many more wonderful seasons of Venture Brothers fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing April 27, 2009
Format:MP3 Music
Mr. Thirlwell is a genius of modern music. He combines notes and chords in ways a normal person would never think of, to create a chaotic twist on "spy show" jazz, giving the music that wonderful Venture Brothers feel of madness. The orchestra samples are full of depth and masterfully used.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally it's here! April 6, 2009
Format:MP3 Music
I have been waiting for something like this since season 1. I always wanted an mp3 of the music that plays on the episode list of the season 1 dvd and finally it's here. The name of the song is Warped Span, and it is song number 18 on this album. Excellent music from an excellent show.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff, but where is Dr. Orpheus' theme? March 24, 2009
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I love this stuff, but one of my favorite tracks from the Venture Brothers is Dr. Orpheus' theme. I've listened to the record and I don't hear it. I was disappointed.

I love any work by the Great Man. I have liked JG Thirlwell's work in all its various forms since the 80's, which probably dates me. I tend to think being a woman and 36 years old, I am not the standard Venture Brothers fan. I've never seen the breakdown chart though. His music reminds me of my mislead teenage youth. I am glad he keeps making great music and sticks to his creative truths. Like I read an interview in Tape Delay from 1987 that reflects a similar work aesthetic and hasn't really sold out, even though if he did, I am sure it would be to his own bidding, not anyone else's.

Anyway, I collect Foetus, Steroid Maximus, Wiseblood, etc, on LP if I can, I have been lucky to have picked up LPs when they are released since the late 80's. The sound of JG Thirlwell's music on LP is the way nature intended. The Venture Brothers soundtrack is full of tracks in the Manorexia/Steroid Maximus area, not so much Foetus, but I love the use of many genres that the Great Man is famous for. But being a musician with a sound that possesses so many highs and lows, LP captures this remarkably better than CD. If I want it in digital form I can covert it or by a CD from Foetus Org.

Supposedly this show wouldn't even exist without the music of JG Thirlwell. It is what drew me to the show in the first place. I found out about the other music connection, via The Hammer's Mors Syphilitica, a lot later and that also led to a nostalgia of 90's goth music and my old college days making videos and making cable access music shows for the band The New York Room, which is a lot like Mors Syphilitica in many ways, especially the operatic voices. So basically the show is a nice journey into my past, musically.

The design of the record itself is really nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Venture Bros. Soundtrack CD January 23, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
From the first few episodes I loved the music from the Venture Bros. TV series and hoped to collect it on CD when it became available. Like the show itself the music is a mix of '60s era Spy / Action Adventure-inspired tunes, with more than enough originality to stand on its own as well. I liked the CD so much that I purchased a second one as a Christmas present for a friend
with similar tastes in music.

This album gives me tons of nostalgia for the show I love. Every time I listen I want to plug the show in. My only wish was that it included an MP3 download.
