1.0 out of 5 stars Type of vinegar not speified, October 30, 2004
This review is from: The Vinegar Book (Paperback)
This book and the book called Emily's vinegar diet book, has a lot of great advice, but nowhere in this book or any of the books by Ms Thacker is there any reference to the fact that one must use Raw vinegar sometimes call mother vinegar to get any benefits from vinegar.
My wife has been following the advice in this and other books by Ms Thacker for years and did not know until just last week that process pasturized vinegar has no benefits.
Ironically this fact was pointed out by a sheep vet in New Zealand who has been treating problems with birthing ewes successfully with daily doses of "Mother Vinegar.
In doing further research into other books touting vinegar, only one book by a company called Bragg calls attention to the premise that only organic or mother vinegar should be used.
And in yet further research, I found that alpaca growers are using only mother vinegar in thier health and care programs for thier alpacas. They use the same methods that are used for humans, dosing, adding to water, and washing fleece with vinegar, but only use mother vinegar.
There are some processed, pasturized vinegars on the market that are called organic, that are not truly pure unprocessed mother vingar.
I think that Ms Thacker has been doing a very bad disservice to her readers.
If Ms Thacker were a doctor of nutrition, she would be guilty of malpratice for prescribing a worthless medication.
I had to rate at one star, but I would rather rate at one tomato thrown very hard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of uses, October 19, 2005
By

This review is from: The Vinegar Book (Paperback)
Aside from diet, this book lists lots of uses for vinegar as well as some historical tidbits. Interesting to read. Not a big book, but a lot of info.
To 'soak' up an odor: put out a small container of white vinegar.

4.0 out of 5 stars vinegar book, March 22, 2005

ATTEN: Amazon.com

The #1 review of The Vinegar Book you are carrying was written by the author of several competing books, hardly fair to Emily.
