Type of vinegar not speified,

This review is from: The Vinegar Book (Paperback)
This book and the book called Emily's vinegar diet book, has a lot of great advice, but nowhere in this book or any of the books by Ms Thacker is there any reference to the fact that one must use Raw vinegar sometimes call mother vinegar to get any benefits from vinegar.
My wife has been following the advice in this and other books by Ms Thacker for years and did not know until just last week that process pasturized vinegar has no benefits. Ironically this fact was pointed out by a sheep vet in New Zealand who has been treating problems with birthing ewes successfully with daily doses of "Mother Vinegar. In doing further research into other books touting vinegar, only one book by a company called Bragg calls attention to the premise that only organic or mother vinegar should be used. And in yet further research, I found that alpaca growers are using only mother vinegar in thier health and care programs for thier alpacas. They use the same methods that are used for humans, dosing, adding to water, and washing fleece with vinegar, but only use mother vinegar. There are some processed, pasturized vinegars on the market that are called organic, that are not truly pure unprocessed mother vingar. I think that Ms Thacker has been doing a very bad disservice to her readers. If Ms Thacker were a doctor of nutrition, she would be guilty of malpratice for prescribing a worthless medication. I had to rate at one star, but I would rather rate at one tomato thrown very hard. Elwin Bagley elwin@tds.net www.windyhillalpacafarm.com

Lots of uses,
By Paula (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Vinegar Book (Paperback)
Aside from diet, this book lists lots of uses for vinegar as well as some historical tidbits. Interesting to read. Not a big book, but a lot of info.
To 'soak' up an odor: put out a small container of white vinegar.

The #1 review of The Vinegar Book you are carrying was written by the author of several competing books, hardly fair to Emily.

I have purchased and read a lot of self help, natural reamedy books but this one has been the most important one in my life since 1994. I inherited a lot of ailments from my family and this book has help me in ways that none of the prescription medications have and it is so simple. If you pay close attention to what it says... If it said that it might be at least a month before anything changes then it will/was at least that. It took longer to get where and what you have then for the ideas in this book to start helping. Every body's system is different, that is why there are so many medications out on the market. We ALL react differently to things... This book will help some and some it may not. As for me, it helped me so very much and you have to believe in it.. Negative feelings minus out the good ANYTHING and EVERYTHING good in life. HAVE a positive attitude and believe.
There's NO, no way anyone could get this book from me. I have about worn it out and wished there were a way to get a few more of them. Maxine

I thought the vinegar book was in excellent condition. It was really informative and was exactly what I was expecting it to be. It came quickly and was here in time to be a Christmas Present. Thank you Amazon.com for helping me find this book.

This book has good information but it is hard to access. There is no index pointing to specific uses of vinegar. You need to read the whole book and bookmark the info that you need.

The Vinegar Book is a short book of folklore and historical solutions using apple cider vinegar. It is filled with old home remedies, but is not meant to be used as medical advice or medical care. It also has some interested solutions to cleaning problems using vinegar. I bought the book because I had heard of the benefits of using apple cider vinegar for nighttime leg cramps. I was surprised, but it worked! It's an interesting read on this product, to say the least.

A friend of mine told me about this book he bought 15 years ago. I wanted a copy, so he gave me a photocopied "order form" from years ago. So, I thought to try Amazon before going that route and sure enough, there was the book I was looking for - and at a fraction of the cost.
My friend was shocked when just three days later I had a copy of my own and for only a few dollars!
