I bought an Ion direct to computer digital turntable (which I also highly recommend) basically just to get this out of print album into digital format.

For years I have carried a couple hundred vinyl LPs with me, move after move. I just couldn't part with many of them despite the weight and the storage issues. Mick Fleetwood's The Visitor is among these old analog treasures. I bought an Ion direct to computer digital turntable (which I also highly recommend) basically just to get this out of print album into digital format. It's that good.

Recorded mostly in Ghana in 1981, The Visitor was one of the first recording excursions of a rock musician into Africa. Fleetwood was preceded by Peter Gabriel and followed by Stewart Copeland and Paul Simon, among others. The Visitor contains a diverse mixture of songs, from a kicking version of the old Fleetwood Mac blues standard "Rattlesnake Shake" (with Peter Green on guitar), to a cover of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away", to fabulous recordings by African musicians accompanied by Fleetwood and others.

Truly an album that deserves a second opportunity to be heard.

Lost Anglo/Afro gem. Mick's solo album recorded in Ghana, and mixed/overdubed at Jimmy Page's Sol Studio in Cookham, Berkshire, England. Also, features the late great George Harrison on slide and acoustic guitar on one track.

I agree with the previous reviewer.I also wish to add another great number on this album,"We werent in love".Absolutely beautiful, like "Walk a thin line".I had the vinyl in the early 80s,and i am hoping this will be released on cd,the remastered version, hopefully!.Every track on this album is fantastic. Many guest musicians appeared on this record,George Harrison,Jim Capaldi,Alvin Lee etc.I gather that when it was first released it was so underatted that only about 100 people or slightly more bought the album! That is why ,i think, it has not been released on cd,as the record company must have thought it is no use wasting any money releasing this on cd.This is a little gem i tell you.If it is ever released on cd buy it,you wont regret it,i promise you!I hope that someday soon this will be out on cd.

A surprisingly top notch album from Mick Fleetwood "The Visitor" was largely over looked in favor of other more popular releases by Fleetwood's band mates.

This reissue by Wounded Bird sounds quite nice. The remaster isn't compressed or too loud like most CD reissues today. The original artwork is largely reproduced just in a smaller format. There aren't any bonus tracks or outtakes included on this set but fans of the album won't care--it's a strong release with cameos by Peter Green on are make of the classic "Rattlesnake Shake" to the late George Harrison playing a memorable, masterful slide guitar part on a remake of "Walk A Thin Line" from "Tusk" just two yes before this albm was released. Session bassist George Hawkins does a great job as vocalist a d the mixture of Traditioal African music mixed in with blues and rock predates "Graeland"?

The album is also encoded s tht when you play it the titles will appear if you have a text enabled payer.

This reissue is a terrific surprise for fans of this album. Recommended.

I had the LP when it first came out 80/81? I was working for the best Music chain store in the S.F. Bay Area, Record Factory. We played this everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times. 10 years later I bought this masterpiece as a Import CD on the Great Expectations label. Lost it in a burglary. Someone has the masters and for the good of music, should release it. This CD/LP had various singers, musicians and other legends. Find the masters AND release it!!

This Graceland before Graceland. Some great songs and beats, plus some guitar work by George Harrison. A lost gem. Check it out!
