From the Author

Thank you so much for your interest in The Vixen and the Vet!

I wrote this book in 23 days. It only took me 23 days because Asher and Savannah jumped off the pages for me fully-formed and 100% ready to fall in love. I think their story is really hot, really fun and really moving. I hope you do too.

I have never written a book as a fundraiser before, so this book is very special to me. I hope that Savannah and Asher's story will inspire, delight and move readers to remember that our returning wounded deserve every possible honor for their courage, bravery and sacrifice.

Every once in a while, a book comes along that snuggles into your heart, harboring the ability to move your soul and make you believe in love again, no matter how many times you read it. When you’re feeling down, you’ll say to yourself, “Self, I want to read my feel-good book.” And you’ll go to your bookshelf, virtual or physical, and you’ll pluck that well-worn tome off the shelf and settle in for some therapy at the hands of your favorite authors. I have a few books that are like that for me—BET ME by Jennifer Cruisie, PERFECT by Judith McNaught, and now, THE VIXEN AND THE VET. Regnery is in a class of her own—a romance all-star. This book is perfection.

Savannah Carmichael has returned to Danvers, Virginia to lick her wounds after being sacked from a prominent position at a high-ranking New York newspaper. Also losing her supposed boyfriend at the same time that she’d lost her job, Savannah doubts her ability to make smart decisions when it comes to men. So when she’s given an opportunity to redeem her professional career by writing about the slighted town veteran, Savannah jumps at the chance to capitalize on Asher Lee’s story.

Asher Lee hasn’t left his palatial home in over eight years. Scarred and missing a limb, he remembers the heartbreaking reaction of the townspeople to the physical imperfections that he gained in an IED explosion in Afghanistan. Asher can stand their curiosity—he can’t stand their pity. He rejects their fear. Having lost his parents in a tragic accident when he was younger, Asher knows that with his disabilities, he’ll never find a family. But once Savannah Carmichael arrives on his front porch—brownies in tow—he finds himself feeling something that he never thought he’d have the luxury of experiencing again. He finds hope.

First off, for the months of June and July 50% of the profits from the sale of this book will be donated to Operation Mend, which is used to help wounded veterans.

This is absolutely a beautifully told story of a wounded veteran, Asher Lee, who came home from Afghanistan after being severely injured by an IED, losing his right hand, injuring his right leg and disfiguring the right side of his face. After a year in the hospital in Texas, he comes back home to Danvers, VA to the family estate. Asher is alive, but by no means is he living. He is an empty shell of a man who has been physically and mentally devastated by his loss and disfigurement.

Savannah Carmichael, was a young journalist who had left Danvers, VA for NYC and after college worked for the Sentinel newspaper, her dream. But she accepting information from her boyfriend and called it reliable source, that was anything but. Patrick had used her and she was expendable to save his family. She has come home to lick her wounds. A journalist friend puts her in touch with the Editor for a Phoenix newspaper and she accepts an assignment with possible employment.

I am not going to tell the story, instead I am going to say that this is such a beautiful and moving story, one that is full of love, laughter and heartache. It is a story you need to read, it is Asher and Savannah's story.

I totally loved Savannah and Asher's story. It was such a beautiful and moving story. I haven't experienced this many emotions with a book in a long time. This is definitely a story that will stay with you for a long time. I really must say this is Katy at her best. I have read every one of Katy's books, and I have loved them all. But The Vixen And The Vet is my favorite by far. If you read just one romance book this year make it The Vixen And The Vet. You will not be disappointed. And to top it all off, for the months of June and July Katy is donating 50% of the profits from this book to Operation Mend which helps wounded Veterans. Thank you Katy for yet another amazing story. And your generosity.

Another 5 star read by author Katy Regnery. I have read every book Ms. Regnery has written and I have to say each one is better than the last. This is my favorite by far. Asher and Savannah have a love that each of us can only dream about and will survive no matter what life throws their way. This book brings up a host of emotions, you will laugh, cry, cheer and lose yourself in the story. This book will grab you on page one and will not let you go until you read "The End" because you will not be able to put it down.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

How can I express how much I loved this story. The words aren't there but I'll try.

Savannah is back home in the small town she grew up in to lick her wounds after she was fired. She was also home for her sisters wedding. While there she got a job offer for a piece in the Lifestyles section of a newspaper in Phoenix. When the idea strikes her to write about the town shut in Asher Lee, she runs with it. It would be a great story of a war hero and the way the town reacted to him when he came home. It will save her career.. Right?

Asher Lee doesn't come out in public. His scars put people off and he is just tired of scaring people. He has a maid/ housekeeper, Mrs. Potts, that takes care of his shopping and him. When Savannah comes to his home wanting to interview him, Mrs Potts tells her in no uncertain terms that Mr. Lee doesn't talk to people. For some reason though (ahem, Mrs Potts badgering him) he decides to give her a chance.

So begins an unlikely friendship. Three times a week Savannah comes to interview Asher and slowly their friendship becomes something more. No one but her mama understands that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Their story is one of love and being able to see past the physical aspects of attraction and delve in to the emotional attraction that makes for a lasting relationship.
